Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for major Australian thoroughbred meetings on January 30.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Rosehill, Caulfield, Morphettville & Ascot.
ROSEHILL: RACE 8 @ 5:40 PM
FROSTY ROCKS (1) was very good two back, but may have found the track a bit too firm when fourth last start. Back to 1500m here and looks to get his favoured conditions. Should lead for Sherry and give them all something to gun down. TRUE DETECTIVE (3) looks to be building nicely this time in and a big tick with JMac going on fourth up. Drawn well and looks ready to win. ABOVE AND BEYOND (11) buried them at this course and distance last start and while up in grade, if able to repeat, he has to be included in the main hopes.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Frosty Rocks to lead all the way.

ASCOT: RACE 6 @ 4:00 PM
PRINCE DEVOUTLY (7) had excuses when beaten first-up but still hit the line well and is better suited at 1200m. Can be handy from gate one and take beating. EXCELLENT DREAM (1) found the front and held them at bay here three weeks ago and rises in class. Will go forward and give a good account again. WEAPONSON (3) is racing in great form and was a winner over this course two runs ago. Will need luck but right in this. MOOD SWINGS (9) and DOWNFORCE (5) are capable too.
SELECTIONS: Prince Devoutly to win. Trifecta 7-1,3,5,9/1,3,5,9.
CAULFIELD: RACE 2 @ 1:30 PM
THINK 'N' FLY (2) has put up a couple of really good efforts lately, sticking on gamely in a high-pressure contest two back before running on well last time. Ready to knock one of these off and he gets the blinkers on today to sharpen him right up. AUSSIE NUGGET (6) comes through the same two races and could be an improver. Step up in class for HIGH 'N' DRY (5) but he comes here off a win and it was fairly emphatic for all that the runner up was unlucky. He's been a promising horse in the past and may just be putting it all together now. KAZIO (3) and INDEPENDENT ROAD (8) are others with hopes.
SELECTIONS: Blinkers on and Think 'n' Fly finds his race.
MORPHETTVILLE: RACE 7 @ 4:21 PM
EVENING GLORY (1) was able to win at Caulfield so that stands up nicely here. He raced near the speed and grabbed them late. Only needs luck from the barrier to go close. TAKEN OFF (2) came out last week but runs here so must be OK. He was in good touch prior to that. PICARGO (9) doesn't run many poor races. Gets a lovely run all the way. HEYINGTON STATION (6) is best suited at the 1200m. He can get into the placings. CONCRETE (5) runs for a new stable off a win. Watch the market.
SELECTIONS: Evening Glory tough to beat.
