Australian Thoroughbred meetings today are held at Hobart, Donald, Geelong. Dubbo, Canberra, Cairns and Albany.

GEELONG: RACE 4 @ 3:15PM EFFORT (1) has filled a place at past three starts. Did run home soundly here last time and if he gets any luck in running he's sure to prove tough to beat. SUNDAY NIGHT TEA (3) scored at Hamilton two starts back and wasn't disgraced at that track last time in tougher assignment. Is one to keep in mind. JOYCE'S HONEY (6) has been around the mark at her past two starts. Both her wins have come on a wet track and she's one to keep safe.

SELECTIONS: Back Effort to win.

As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Geelong computer card.

CAIRNS: RACE 4 @ 3:15PM INCHING CLOSER (3) won last start at Cairns and with Marnu Potgieter retaining the ride has to be hard to beat again. Having third run back from a spell and has won in that state previously. SILENT EXPLORER (2) resumes following a spell of 28 weeks and is proven on softer tracks. Previous winner on the track and should be right here at the finish. LOUD NOISE (6) goes well at Cairns having had just the five starts for two wins and two placings. Finished third of 12 here last start and is a solid winning show. DREAM I CAN (4) was a close up second last start and on that run has to be considered one of the better chances.

SELECTIONS: Hard to go past Inching Closer.

DONALD: RACE 5 @ 3:35PM DONATRICE (7) is lightly raced and progressive. She finished a close up third last start when well supported behind Tibetan who has since won the Ararat Cup. She looks ready to show her best third up out to this trip and should be able to settle closer in the run from an inside gate. RESURGE (2) is progressing nicely this time in and looks ready to show his best third up out to this trip. Back each way. MILESTONE (5) can improve sharply fourth up coming out of three handy races since resuming. Don't take lightly.

SELECTIONS: Donatrice has plenty of upside.

DUBBO: RACE 5 @ 3:55 PMVITAL VERSE (1) runs along and has been threatening a win. Has the speed to manage the wide gate and comes back in class. The one to beat. OPTIMO (3) won the Maiden first-up as expected building on the trial win. Went to Newcastle after and spoiled things by being slow away. This is easier and fitter can make the finish. ANGIE EMM (8) dominated a recent trial leading into this first-up assignment. Will get through the conditions and will make her presence felt.

SELECTIONS: Backing Vital Verse.

ALBANY: RACE 7 @ 4:50PM AMERICAN QUEEN (3) has been found wanting at the end of her recent races and drops back in distance for this. She has a handy draw and is likely to make full use of the 2kg claim from in form apprentice Victoria Corver. Looks well placed third up to find her best form again. CABLE BOY (4) is a lightly tried four year old gelding who is lining up for just his seventh start. He has ability and indicated his readiness for his fresh up assignment by placing at a recent trial. Top jockey in Peter Knuckey takes the ride and he will be hard to hold out. THE PUGILIST (6) is having his first start in WA and has performed well in some good fields in the Eastern States. He is a past winner fresh up and has the draw to play a major part in the finish here. Watch closely. MR CAUSEWAY (7) having his first run in WA and is fresh up. While he has only won the one race he is now part of the Roy Rogers stable and on that score alone must be respected. Include in all multiples.

SELECTIONS: American Queen win bet.

CAIRNS: RACE 7 @ 5:10PM MORE THE MERRIER (5) bolted in here last start to win her debut by six lengths. Well placed to win again. BOUGATSA (2) resumes after a 28 week break and finished fourth at Cairns when last first-up. Looks a good each-way chance here. GRAZIE (3) just missed last start when resuming from a spell to finish second at Townsville on a soft track. Hard to see him not figuring in the finish on that run. MISHANI REBEL (1) has six placings from his last seven starts and is due a winning turn. Has the blinkers on for the first time today and that could make all the difference..

SELECTIONS: More The Merrier to carry on her winning way.
