Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for January 22.

Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Moonee Valley and Doomben.

RANDWICK: RACE 4 @ 2:10 PM

AND WE DANCED (7) was left in front a long way from home last start when just gunned down late behind Artic Thunder. Sure to take good improvement from that run and a key switch with McEvoy aboard. An improving track is another tick and she should prove hard to beat. Stablemate SUR LA MER (6) failed to fire at the mid-weeks last start when heavily supported. Clearly better than that and rates highly on her effort two back. Worth keeping safe. ARCTIC THUNDER (1) returned a new career peak when winning last start and if able to repeat she should be right in the finish again. AWESOME CHOICE (10) won well at Canterbury last start and while this is harder she is trending the right way.
SELECTIONS: Very keen on And We Danced.

MOONEE VALLEY: RACE 4 @ 2:25 PM

SALTO ANGEL (2) found some interference at the start last time and just ended up too far back from a very steady tempo. Stayed on well and she went into that off just one run in 79 days so she can certainly be fitter on a quicker turnaround now. Her best form is terrific for a race like this. LOST IMPACT (4) was a touch one-paced and perhaps poorly suited by a slow gallop at Flemington. Gets up in trip now and back to the Valley where a stronger gallop brought out te best in her two back. That peak for can beat these. WELLSFORD (7) has been kept fresh for this. Solid last time in similar and just missed here the run prior. SAVING (1) faces a tougher task now but did win well enough around here last time to be respected.
SELECTIONS: Backing Salto Angel.

DOOMBEN: RACE 5 @ 2:32 PM

KIPSBAY (11) looks well placed heading north. Only went down narrowly second up when runner up at Canterbury and while he hasn't raced for five weeks he has won a trial in that time. This is winnable. ALF'S MAGIC (2) won both starts of last campaign and is drawn to get the favours. Keep him safe. RED WAVE (6) finished last preparation with a string of wins or placings and will be ready to go off an easy trial win. PENTITO (5) won his only visit to this track and is another to respect first up.
SELECTIONS: Kipsbay is placed to win off good Sydney form.
