With midweek racing in Sydney called off for the fourth week in a row, Trent Crebbin has reviewed Monday's Adelaide Cup meeting and Wednesday's Sandown meeting, finding a horse to follow from each card.

Race 6: Ironclad

Going back a few days now but with the Adelaide Cup meeting on Monday there looks to be a horse who won first up worth following. Ironclad, one of five winners on the day for returning hometown hero Jamie Kah , was a drifter in the market with an official SP of $8.00 after failing to fire last preparation. He's clearly come back well this time, sitting back in the field over a trip short of his best and running down a few solid listed class horses. The Australian Bloodstock import showed an abundance of promise in his first Australian campaign, winning the Bendigo Golden Mile in dominant fashion. Once he gets up to a mile and even 2000m he'll be highly competitive in Group class races and races such as the Toorak Handicap and Kennedy Cantala at handicap level in the Spring aren't unrealistic targets.

Race 3: Stretto

Not a hard one to find given the dominance of the win but Stretto looks a horse that will keep rising through the grades, with a couple of notable reasons to support that claim. He's been gelded since an indifferent last preparation and is also now with the all-conquering Ciaron Maher & David Eustace stable, both of which seem to have worked wonders. He was strong to the line first up in a very strong BM64 behind Logan Street Lion and backed it up on Wednesday, racing away to win by 4.5 lengths. Going back to his three-year-old days, he did run a terrific third in a Silver Bowl Final when wide the trip to Walking Flying and that's easily Saturday class form. Watch for him going through the grades this time in and it wouldn't surprise to see him pick off a handy race deeper into the Autumn.
