The Saturday Multi – Australasian Oaks Day

3 minute read

Racing and Sports analysts Jaike Altieri and Ethan Perry bring the punters a Saturday multi-bet featuring racing from around the country.

It was an agonising defeat last weekend, with our first two legs getting the job done, only for Swats That to come out and become 'Flop of the Week' in Adam and Simon's Review podcast (which you can listen to here).

We found it difficult to conjure up a three-legged multi to steer the punters into, but with a little bit of guidance from around the office, we think we're onto a winning combination to overcome last weekend's heartbreak.

Let's get into it.

Morphettville Race 4 Number 2 ILLATION - Win ($2.60)

When having our usual conversation regarding this weekend's multi, Senior Handicapper Adam Blencowe piped up with, "have you seen that three-year-old that's going around in Adelaide?". We've given Simon a chance, but it was now Adam's turn. This colt bolted in on debut at Pakenham, winning by 4.5 lengths and clocking a finishing burst some 20lbs faster than the Group performed Visinari (who won by 7.5 lengths in the next event). He's drawn perfectly to land on the pace and if he can quicken like he did last start, he's going to take plenty of catching.

Hawkesbury Race 7 Number 1 MR MOZART - Place ($1.40)

This colt has found winning form and looks a great chance of bringing up the hat-trick this weekend. Has relished the wet conditions and will no doubt get another track to his liking on Saturday. He fought hard to fend of Our Playboy last start to salute, with that runner a dominant subsequent winner. Looks to have the clear edge on this lot and W. Pike sticks. Hard to see him not filling the frame.

Eagle Farm Race 8 Number 2 COUNT DE RUPEE - Place ($2.00)

The Gong winner had a slow start to this campaign, but bounced back with a narrow defeat behind Kementari in the Hall Mark Stakes last start. He was able to sit closer that day, which he will be able to do from the inside barrier once again. He has a fitness edge on most of his rivals, who are first-up and heading toward the Stradbroke Handicap later in the carnival. Others in the race may have a class edge on him, but with a good draw and fitness on his side, he can definitely finish in the placings.

This combination comes up at around $7.25 (Ladbrokes, 2PM Thursday AEST).
