ROSEHILL March 15

Inside Grass; Heavy 8

16 Heats – 2 x 1030m (1 Open; 1 2 & 3YO); 14 x 900m (3 Open; 7 2YO; 1 3YO; 3 Maiden)

Times were standard given the heavy conditions with only four 900m heat winners going under 55 seconds.

FABERGINO (Chris Waller); Crack Melbourne speedster showed her class in her first outing for her new trainer Chris Waller to lead his 900m trial with ease and maintain a clear advantage over the chasers to score by two lengths in the fastest of the 14 heats over the trip (54.72; 34.99).

WISDOM OF WATER (Annabel Neasham): Strong win by this former Queenslander in his first trial for his new trainer. Travelled kindly three wide after a slow start and loved the way he responded when Jason Collett called on him to go up a gear and assert his authority over the last 200m. It was a soft win in good time (54.79) with the last 600m the fastest of the session (34.66). Looks to be reliable trial form with LET IT POUR, DIRTY WORK and SUPERIUM working nicely to the line.

The two heats over 1030m featured an easy win by the fit last start winner CALIFORNIA CIBLE (64.57; 36.21) in the mixed trial for 2 & 3YOs and an eye catching second by Annabel Neasham's new import ZAAKI in the faster open heat won in good style by country-trained sprinter LORD VON COSTA (63.36; 35.27).

2YOs: It was a day out for the Snitzel progeny in the seven juvenile heats over 900m. They won three trials plus a quinella result when two smart Arrowfield-owned fillies YEARNING (Team Hawkes) and CHIMES (Waterhouse/Bott) dominated their heat (55.38; 35.70).

The best of the Snitzels was the filly CHALEUR BAY (Ryan/Alexiou) coasting to a strong 3.3 lengths win after sliding clear in the middle stages to lead by four under a hold. Although the time was only fair (55.39; 35.18) Robbie Dolan was merely a passenger over the last 300m.

BEST SIDE, a Not A Single Doubt colt from the Chris Waller yard, looked the part recording the fastest time in the seven 2YO heats (54.74; 35.07). Waller also won 2YO heats with the good types KALINO (55.38; 35.04) and STARMAN (55.19; 35.20).

MAIDENS: Chris Waller sent out some nice maidens with the previously noted unraced filly PRETTY ELSA ready to go first-up. This was her first win in three trials and her most impressive as she worked well within herself for a soft three lengths win (56.19;35.35). Waller would have been pleased with smart placings by stablemates LEAVE ME BE and CAPTIVARE in their heats, underlining their future prospects.
