Early Mail and Blackbook Update For July 29

3 minute read

Early mail and Blackbook Update for racing on July 29.

ROSEHILL SATURDAY

RACE 1 (8) ALL TOO SOON: Comes to the races for the third time after showing excellent potential in his first two starts at Rosehill and Canterbury. Had little go right on debut when fourth over 1400m at this course on July 1 then had to make a long run four and five wide for the last 600m when beaten only a head into third place over 1550m at Canterbury on July 12. Both starts have been on soft tracks and anticipate he is a big strider who is going to appreciate getting on to a much better surface this time. Positive riding switch to Kerrin McEvoy and the weight advantage he gets over his main rivals makes him an appealing gamble in this field.

RACE 6 (13) VAUCLUSE BAY: Progressive 3YO takes on older rivals after he knuckled down with a big drive over the last 100m for a determined win over 1800m at this course on July 15 when he clearly appreciated return to a firm surface after previous efforts on soft and heavy tracks. He can go on with it here under similar conditions as he can use his 3kg drop in weight to the limit to his advantage in a race devoid of strong pace.

RACE 9 (5) PHILOSOPHY: Don’t be too condemning of this talented mare’s last start fourth over 1400m at Warwick Farm when she didn’t get a fair crack after she was bailed up behind the leaders on a soft track. She meets several rivals from that race a lot better at the weights this time and there is still much more to come from her considering she has had only six starts for three wins. Kind draw and the return to a good surface give her every chance to redeem.
