RANDWICK PARLAY

RACE 3 (4) Tenley: Unbeaten Godolphin filly faces her Golden Slipper test against some quality opposition but to quote the words of her trainer James Cummings “she has something about her”. That was evident when she reeled off a super last 600m from last in 33.76 to win first-up over 1100m at this course three weeks ago and any improvement of that effort makes her hard to beat in a race where there will be no shirking in the first 800m. Like her chances against her classy stablemate Exhilarates with her fitness edge – at least for now!

RACE 6 (3) Kementari: It may be 12 months and nine starts to the day since he recorded his last win in the Randwick Guineas but he’s no Tom Melbourne – he’s had genuine excuses in a long list of G1 races and will relish getting back to the big Randwick course after his excellent first-up second in the CF Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield. Gets a major gear change with blinkers back on after he worked beautifully in them in his subsequent trial at Canterbury. They could be the key to him producing that great turn of foot that saw him beat Pierata and Trapeze Artist in the Guineas last year…..history repeats!

RACE 8 (3) All Too Soon: Strong mare is well placed returning to her own sex over this trip after resuming with a game second at Rosehill over 1500m. She seems to be at her best second up - she has previously won twice at her second run into a prep - she’s got Group form and ticks the boxes across the board with her excellent stats over this course and distance. Forecast might also favour her as she is better if the track is affected.

TRIAL WATCH REPORT

Noted Trial Watch Runners – March 9

RANDWICK: Star Reflection (R1); Za Zi Ba (R1); Jonker (R2); Trope (R2); Santos (R2); Exhilarates (R3); Wayupinthesky (R3); Dubious (R4); Bivouac (R4); Yes Yes Yes (R4); Strasbourg (R4); War Baron (R4); Redzel (R5); Ball Of Muscle (R5); Viridine (R5); Estijaab (R5); Trapeze Artist (R6); Pierata (R6); Kementari (R6); Prompt Response (R6)

Trapeze Artist (Rosehill March 1): He has really come on in his two trial wins since he resumed in the Expressway Stakes with this effort to win his 1030m heat hard held (blinkers on) by almost five lengths in easily the fastest time (61.77; 34.60) confirmation that he is in the right form to put in a big effort next time out.

Redzel (Canterbury February 25): With blinkers on he was right on his game as he worked like a machine to win his 897m heat in 54.63 (fastest) with the highlight being his quick last 600m (33.50). At the same set the 897m heat that saw Music Magnate beat Kementari and Trekking in 54.75 (last 600m 34.20) is obviously strong form. There was also an excellent 2YO trial from Yes Yes Yes finishing an impressive second to the classy Dubious - put him down as a youngster set to make an impact over the carnival.

Viridine (Randwick February 7): First trial since the spring for this talented Godolphin sprinter caught the eye as he got to the line under a big hold for a strong second behind stablemate Trekking in a high quality heat over 735m. His best runs have been when fresh and suspect he will be well primed when he resumes. Topped off with a soft second to Redzel in his Canterbury trial on February 25.
