RACE 3 (10) GRAND PIANO: Rising 3YO takes on older horses but this is not a strong BM78. Measured up well in Group company in the Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) at Randwick where his game fourth behind classy pair Entente and Bottega had plenty of merit in the heavy ground. Impressive winning his previous two starts at his first two runs back from a spell and he can return to that form on top of the ground. Just needs a clever ride early to overcome a sticky gate.

RACE 5 (2) GRAFF: A well measured prep through two strong trials has this quality sprinter ready to win first-up. He could have raced at Randwick last week in tougher company but the extra seven days gives him a better surface and sees him favourably placed in this Listed race over a course where he has won twice. Blinkers back on for a first-up assignment always signals intent and take note of his fresh form….when last resuming he was a close third behind Redzel and Pierata and had Nature Trip and Sunlight behind him – enough said!

RACE 8 (6) TRUE DETECTIVE: Sure he has his critics but on closer analysis he is unfairly maligned for a horse with two wins and four placings from only 10 starts including a Group 3 win in the Up And Coming Stakes, form that sees him very well placed in this moderate BM 78 company. Had excuses last start in the classy G2 Arrowfield Stakes at Randwick when he finished off strongly and this looks his right race with James Macdonald on board from a low draw on a firming surface.

GRAFF (Wyong March 2): Kris Lees rolled out several of its top Group horses with this classy sprinter the obvious eye catcher getting home from last to finish a strong third in his 845m trial. He improved further to win his next trial over 1000m at Newcastle on April 3 in fine style. Ready to go fresh.

LIVE AND FREE (Randwick April 9): Liked the way he sprinted home from the rear for a sharp win in his 1200m heat in solid time (1.24.72; 35.36).

ANDERS (Warwick Farm April 17): Not A Single Doubt youngster didn't live up to expectations early in the season but this trial, his third since resuming, underlines that he has the talent to win races. Tracked very wide throughout under a big hold from James McDonald to win his 802m heat in 47.77 (34.10) with plenty in reserve.

FROSTY ROCKS (Warwick Farm April 17): Strong winner of his 798m heat in easily the fastest time (47.04; 33.60). Placed three of his five starts and a maiden looks his for the taking this prep.

RECENT TRIAL WATCH WINNERS:  Kinloch; Sauvestre; Bellevue Star; Missile Heat; Ranier; Snitz; Macleay; Golden Tycoon; Secretly Awesome; Panna Cotta; Ocean Emperor; Costello; Stooge; Archanna; Spokesman; All Time Legend; Criaderas.
