ROSEHILL PARLAY

RACE 3 (9) SALLY'S DAY:  Appeals as a filly heading for better things after progressing from her first-up provincial win over 1100m at Wyong to an impressive black type placing in the Listed Denise's Joy Stakes over 1100m at this course behind Fituese on May 16. Being by More Than Ready you would expect her to relish the step up to 1200m on a heavy track, having won a trial in similar conditions before her first-up win in soft ground at Wyong. Good profile for a race of this class.

RACE 4 (11) SOLDIER OF LOVE: Improved off a strong first-up placing at this track to record his fifth win in 14 starts over 1400m at Randwick on May 9, handling a soft track confidently under 57.5kg. Sure to be fitter and with 2.5kg less he can measure up in this stronger field judging by the way he got better through his last prep as his distances increased. Maps well in a race devoid of genuine pace.

RACE 6 (9) RIVA CAPRI: Former Kiwi filly has made a good impression in her two starts for the Kris Lees stable, improving off her eye-catching first-up sixth over 1250m at Canterbury to charge late for a close second over 1400m on the Kensington track at Randwick under 61.5kg. Rates highly with a 4.5kg weight drop on her NZ form where she was a stakes winner on a heavy track before taking on strong Group races up to 1600m last spring. Will go close in this company if she runs to that form.

TRIAL WATCH REPORT

NOTED TRIAL RUNNERS – May 23

ROSEHILL SATURDAY: Marnix (R1); Supremo (R1); Atlantic King (R3); Master Shuhood (R4); Sandbar (R5); Statuesquely (R6); Mr Dependable (R8); Bergen (R8); Echo Jet (R9); Superium (R9); Handspun (R9);

ROSEHILL May 19: Thick fog blanketed the early open company heats over 1030m where the first won by OUTBACK DIVA (62.73) was more than a second faster than the second heat won by the Group performer SCARLET DREAM (63.79).

WARWICK FARM May 12: SUPERIUM improved sharply on his first-up trial to record the fastest 800m heat win (46.53; 33.37) while ECHO JET cleared out to score in his 808m heat hard held by almost four lengths although his time was pedestrian (48.40; 34.44). SUPERIUM has been well prepared as he followed up with a strong fourth in a 740m trial at Warwick Farm on May 22, going to the line unextended.

GOSFORD May 5: Brad Widdup would have been happy with the last 300m sprint by SANDBAR to win his 800m heat in good time for the conditions (48.57; 34.87). The unraced NO LAUGHING MATTER and VULPINE were maiden performers to impress in their heats.

RECENT TRIAL WATCH WINNERS: Archery Butts; Conscript; Land Of Valens; Meadow Land; Le Gai Soleil; Tepario; Spirit Ridge; Tommy Gold; Hulk; Advance Party; Knight; Lost And Running; Secretly Awesome.
