RANDWICK PARLAY

RACE 3 (7) KORDIA: Has jumped quickly in grade in his two starts after a year off, winning a BM78 impressively first-up over 1200m at Rosehill before giving away too much start from a wide draw in a BM 88 over the same course and distance on July 11 when closing strongly from last for fourth. He's now up to a BM94 but the extra 100m looks a suitable step for him as he should be ridden to have last shot at the leaders under the limit weight of 52kg.

RACE 5 (8) DERBARI: Good wet tracker gets his chance to reverse the result from his last start on July 25 when he was nailed on the line by Zourhea over 1550m on the Kensington track as he meets that horse so much better at the weights with a 4kg swing in his favour thanks to Brock Ryan's allowance. Was left vulnerable last time in a fast run affair and should be much harder to run down in the heavy ground this time in a race that maps to be run at a more comfortable pace.

RACE 7 (4) BLACK MAGNUM: A tragedy beaten is the only way to describe the luckless first-up fourth by this honest sprinter in a BM78 over 1000m on the Kensington track on July 18 when he carried strong market support. He was travelling like a winner but was stopped in his tracks at the 200m when trying to force a run between the leaders before regrouping to run strongly through the line without being tested. He's won twice when second up and with a handy 5kg weight drop I am counting on boom apprentice Tommy Sherry to learn from his last start and this time give the big gelding plenty of room to unleash his finishing sprint.

TRIAL WATCH REPORT

NOTED TRIAL RUNNERS – July 29

RANDWICK SATURDAY: Badoosh (R1); Cinquedea (R3); Sir Plush (R3); Emanate (R4); Single Bullet (R7); Grimoire (R7); Broken Arrows (R7); Sangria (R7); Tonsor (R7); Miss Redoble (R9)

SANGRIA (Randwick July 28): Set to back up quickly from an impressive trial win on the synthetic track at Randwick earlier this week. She won her heat over 780m by 2.8 lengths under double wraps after leading by a big space and could have gone much quicker if asked for a serious effort.

EMANATE (Hawkesbury July 20): This daughter of the four-time G1 winner Guelph was a maiden winner from three starts in her first prep, giving the impression she would improve with experience. That was evident in this 1000m trial as she had no trouble dispensing with her rivals by more than four lengths with plenty in hand.

SINGLE BULLET (Rosehill July 17): Impressive winning his 1030m heat in fast time (63.18; 35.64) by a hollow five lengths over a deep field. It was his second trial in preparation for what should be a strong first-up performance.

EAGLE FARM SATURDAY: Kedah (R7); Bubbles Ball (R7)

RECENT TRIAL WATCH WINNERS: Torun; Quatum; Dancing Gidget; Eduardo; Mugatoo; Castlecomer; The Face; Destination; On The Lead; Redoute's Image; Yardstick; Blesk; Madam Legend; Off Shaw; War Weapon; Last Chance Dance; Nags To Riches.
