ROSEHILL September 28

Good 4

11 Heats – 3 x 1030m (2 Open; 1 Maiden); 8 x 900m (3 Open;  2 2YO; 3 Maiden)

The big guns NATURE STRIP and GYTRASH commanded the spotlight with the leading Everest contenders contesting separate heats.

NATURE STRIP passed his test before stewards in his 900m heat after his antics at the trials last week when he reared out of the gates and left James McDonald on the ground. This time he jumped OK but McDonald reported he then stumbled and lost a length or two. As a result he settled in the back half and from there was given a very quiet ride, making no attempt to challenge the leaders before closing strongly in the last 50 metres for an impressive sixth only 1.8 lengths from the winner KAAKIT AKIT in the fastest of the eight heats over 900m (53.36; 34.24).

GYTRASH, a decisive winner over Nature Strip in his Sydney debut in the Concoirde Stakes, showed he was progressing strongly with an easy win in the fastest of the three heats over 1030m (61.40; 34.23). Jason Collett allowed him to control the heat and he did all that was required to score untouched by 1.8 lengths.

There were two heats for the juveniles over 900m with the I Am Invincible filly SHE'S ALL CLASS hinting that she could live up to her name with a fast all the way win in her heat (53.88; 34.61) with her 1.3 length margin flattering the chasers. It was chalk and cheese as the colts heat winner MONTANA FLASH recorded a very slow 56.61 (35.39).

There were some nice open company trials from the well performed MISSYBEEL, ON THE LEAD and SURREAL STEP while OH SAY, PENTANGELI and RAINBOW CONNECTION took the eye in the maiden heats.

NOTED TRIALS

RANDWICK September 25

Randwick A Grass; Good 4

12 Heats – 1 x 1200m (Open); 6 x 1045m (3 Open; 3 Maiden); 5 x 742m (2 2YO; 1 Open; 2 Maiden)

FIERCE IMPACT (Matthew Smith): Trials over 1200m are normally pedestrian affairs but not when you have a class act like this having a serious hitout off a Group One win at Flemington. Put simply, he's flying!  Out the back and ridden quietly for the first 600m, he went through his gears like a horse at the top of his form as he sprinted fast from the turn to record an impressive 4.3 lengths win with Jason Collett swinging against him. The time was good (61.81) but the last 600m (33.63) was excellent, up there with the splits the speedy jump and run types were recording in the shorter heats.

NOTED TRIALS

WARWICK FARM September 22

Inside Grass; Soft 6

13 Heats – 4 x 1200m (2 Open; 2 Maiden); 4 x 807m (3 Open; 1 3YO); 5 x 804m (5 Maiden)

BLAZING MISS (Mark Newnham): Strong trial from this talented mare indicates she is set to build on her good race record. Travelled kindly sitting off the leader SPACEBOY in her 807m heat before striding clear under a kind ride from Robbie Dolan to win by a soft 1.5 lengths that could have been much more yet easily recording the fastest of the four heats over the distance (47.14; 33.42). Expect to see her well placed first-up.

SIR ROCKET (Bjorn Baker): It's been a long wait to see this smart maiden get back to the track but the wait will be worth it as he again showed he has the talent to win races. He was second in his only start in August of 2019 and was trialling like a winner in the summer before a late setback ruled him out of the rich Magic Millions Maiden in January. Sure to be fitter for this 804m trial where he sat behind two well regarded types in HEMINGFIELD and NEBULA before cruising past for a strong win in the quickest of the five heats over the distance (47.07; 33.95).

NOTED TRIALS

XX Blazing Miss; Sir Rocket

X Archedemus; Cross The Rubicon; Mollycoddle; Monte Ditto; Nebula; Ocean Emperor; Onchao; Only Mine; Spirit Ridge; Tumultuous; Vanna Girl; Yulong Prince; Written Beauty
