Chris Scholtz reviews Sydney barrier trials at Warwick Farm on October 9 and Randwick on October 12.
RANDWICK October 12
Randwick A Grass; Good 4
13 Heats – 2 x 1200m (2 Open); 6 x 1050m (2 Open; 4 Maiden); 5 x 735m (2 2 YO; 1 Open; 2 Maiden)
A highlight of this session was a huge margin win by the Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott-trained mare ROMANTIC WHISPER in the second of the two open heats over 1200m. She led by six lengths after 400m and by the time they reached the post she was 16 lengths in front – a a rare margin by any standard - after she was allowed to run by her apprentice rider Stacey Metcalfe. A stronger rider would have held her back as her splits showed she went very quick between the 1000m and 400m. Her overall time (71.80) was a half second quicker than stablemate ULUSABA (72.34) in the first 1200m heat but she came home her last 600m in much slower time (34.51 compared to 33.99).
The Waterhouse/Bott team won six heats with the stable certain to be pleased with the strong free running win by the talented YAO DASH in his 1050m heat (62.02;33.58). His fast last 600m showing he is ready to make up for lost time after being restricted to just two starts over the last 12 months.

WARWICK FARM October 9
Inside Grass/Polytrack; Good 4
21 Heats – Inside Grass 2 x 1200m (1 Open; 1 Maiden); 7 x 801m (4 2YO; 3 Open); 7 x 798m (5 3YO; 2 Maiden); Polytrack 3 x 1175m (1 Open; 2 Maiden); 2 x 740m (2 Maiden)
A big session with a mix of grass and polytrack trials that by and large were standard fare with the exception of two open heats over 801m that featured the Everest contenders EDUARDO and BIVOUAC – and they didn't disappoint!
EDUARDO (Joe Pride): Showed he is at the top of his game for The Everest with a dashing win in his 801m heat. He jumped to the lead and was two lengths clear at the 400m under a tight hold from Rachel King and from there cruised away to score by a hollow 6.5 lengths in the fastest time of the morning (46.24). He did it very easily but still ran his last 600m in 32.63 – excellent work!
Is this a #TABEverest statement from @PrideRacing's Eduardo? The 7yo bolts away with an 801m trial at Warwick Farm on Friday with @RachelK11 on board. @tabcomau @miRunnersDotCom @7horseracing pic.twitter.com/IqrHOkarlf

BIVOUAC (James Cummings): Glen Boss was content to allow this top class sprinter to sit off the leader before taking control turning for home. From there Boss allowed the big strider to find the line at his own speed without any pressure. This allowed stablemate PROMOTIONS to close off and run him to a half length at the finish but his time was more than satisfactory (47.63; 33.26). He gave the impression James Cummings has timed his Everest prep to a nicety.
Bivouac does it easily under @boss_glen winning a Warwick Farm trial on Friday, he's a $13 chance in Saturday week's #TABEverest. @tabcomau @7horseracing @godolphin pic.twitter.com/ZcMYHZHYAS
