RACE 5 (7) SCARLET DREAM: She hasn't won in 18 months and I might be drawing a long bow to suggest she can find the form that saw her finish second to Verry Elleegant in the 2019 ATC Oaks over this course and distance but there is enough evidence in her recent performances to suggest she is ready to play a big hand in this event. Like the fact she is on a seven day back up from a solid fourth in last Saturday's Craven Plate in her first 2000m start since resuming and is favourably weighted dropping 3kg off that effort. This will be only the fourth time in her career that she has contested a 2400m event I'm happy to give her the benefit of the doubt and make her an each way play in an open race.
RACE 8 (12) SUPERIUM: Cracker field for this class with track conditions (rain predicted) and barrier draws vital at this late stage of the program. If the track holds up this talented sprinter is very well placed to regain his excellent early form after failing to fire on heavy winter tracks in his last prep. Resumed with a luckless first-up fourth over 1000m at this course two weeks ago and can see nothing but upside for him with 5kg less over the extra 200m.
RACE 9 (11) ICEBATH: Has been costly but now is not the time to drop off this mare. She has mixed her distances and will find stepping up to 1600m in this class more suitable than her last start when a creditable two lengths fifth (slow to jump and lost a plate) against much stronger company in the Silver Eagle over 1300m at this course two weeks ago. The 3kg claim for apprentice Tommy Sherry gives her a nice weight advantage and she will be hard to beat if she avoids the trouble that has cost her dearly in recent starts.
