A massive set with the grass heats run on a Soft 7 that saw riders prefer the mid to wide ground.

Snitzel filly CENTRO STORICO provided an early highlight with a sharp four lengths win in the fastest of the two 2YO heats over 807m (47.89; 33.73), almost two seconds quicker than the colts heat (49.64; 35.20).

The fastest 807m heat win was recorded by BRAZEN GEM (47.50; 33.33), having a fair bit in reserve as she coasted home in a trial of some depth. The quality Godolphin sprinter VIRIDINE also impressed finishing third after he was given an easy time over the last 300m.

Brazen Gem was among five winners from the Bjorn Baker yard and he would have also been pleased with the 804m heat wins by his maiden performers MISS JAY FOX (47.59; 33.79), CAN'T GET ENOUGH (47.63; 33.52); NATURAL NINE (47.77; 33.73) and SATURDAY SILENCE (47.43; 34.13). Another of his maidens BOOMKO also was beaten narrowly in the fastest 804m heat (47.01; 33.92) after going head and head with the winner PRINCESS OF MEYDAN.

Classy sprinter TRUMBULL showed he had held his form since his impressive first-up win in the G3 Sydney Stakes at Randwick with a regulation trial over 1000m, sitting behind the leaders before sprinting home for a soft 1.4 lengths win (61.25; 35.82).
