ROSEHILL November 12

Inside Grass; Good 4

17 Heats – 3 x 1030m (2 Open; 1 Maiden); 14 x 900m (4 2YO; 4 Open; 6 Maiden)

A set that featured a talented arrival from New Zealand and a number of good maiden prospects set to come through the classes.

Chris Waller produced Sweynesse filly ONLY WORDS; A Guineas winner in New Zealand, for her first Sydney trial and she looked the part taking control of her 900m heat and doing it at her own speed to score by a well held 1.3 lengths (54.50; 34.60). It was a strong heat with some eye catching efforts behind her from SMART IMAGE, IN LIGHTEN ME and MACLEAY.

Other strong open company trials came from the quality pair SINGLE BULLET and SNITZ finishing 1-2 in the equal fastest 900m heat (53.60; 33.57).

The maiden heats should be a good source of future winners. The Waller-trained TIGHT ROPES cleared out for a big 900mn heat by 5.8 lengths in time that equalled Single Bullet (53.60; 34.60) while BOOMKO (53.71; 34.96), DATA CONTROL (54.27; 35.01) and IMMACULACY (54.86; 34.83) were other heat winners with obvious potential. Other eye catchers in the maiden heats included PRETTY ELSA, AWAKINO; EXOBOOM and KAHUKA.

There was nothing to get excited about in the 2YO heats but there was merit in the performances of ZARASTRO, MASCHERATA, BELLE O'BALLEE and RUBY KISSES.

NOTED TRIALS

X Awakino; Belle O'Ballee; Boomko; Brookspire; Captivare; Data Control; Dawn Too Good; Exoboom; Immaculacy; Kahuka; Macleay; Mascherata; Military Affair; Only Words; Pretty Elsa; Single Bullet; Smart Image; Snitz; Rammstein; Solva; Tight Ropes; Wairere Falls; Zarastro

WYONG November 11

Course Proper; Soft 5

14 Heats – 1 x 1200m (Open); 5 x 1000m (2 Open; 3 Maiden); 8 x 845m ( 2 2YO; 3 Open; 2 3YO C1/MDN; 1 4YO+ Maiden)

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott provided the class act when they sent the Group star DAWN PASSAGE from Randwick the 1200m heat as part of his prep for the million dollar race at Kembla Grange on November 21. His did as much as was required under a quiet ride from Tim Clark to pick up the leader late for a soft win, a good sign he has come on well since his first-up placing in the Golden Eagle at Rosehill.

The other trials were basically provincial class with local trainer Brett Partelle providing three sharp winners in the 845m heats. Partelle is a specialist with short course speedsters with the heat wins by RIFLES (50.37; 34.11), PERFECT STYLE (50.47; 34.71) and SKYE BANNER (50.18; 33.99) good pointers to their prospects in suitable races.

NOTED TRIALS

X Dame Kiri; Dawn Passage; Iconic Star; Island Lass; Oakfield Twilight; Perfect Style; Remlap's Gem; Rifles; Skye Banner; Underboss; Wild About Her; Wonder Missile.

RANDWICK November 10

Randwick A Grass; Soft 5

16 Heats – 2 x 1200m (2 Open); 8 x 1050m (4 Open; 4 Maiden); 6 x 736m (2 2YO; 2 Open; 2 Maiden)

I doubt any trainer would have come away from these trials with a broader smile than John O'Shea. His team were prominent in every heat they contested with his above average sprinters SOUTHERN LAD and INTREPIDACIOUS recording impressive wins in their 1050m heats.

Last start winner INTREPIDACIOUS has gone five weeks and two trials since she last raced waiting for a suitable race on a good surface. She is ready to add to her strong record judging by her soft 4.5 lengths win in the fastest 1050m heat (62.51; 34.27). Rachel King had a lap full of horse holding down SOUTHERN LAD for a strong win over stablemate PITCHFORK in his 1050m heat and while the time was slow (65.02; 34.44) he looks in the right form to perform boldly first-up give that he produces his best when fresh.

Smart mare LILLEMOR gave O'Shea a third heat win in the fastest 736m heat (43.22; 33.21) while stablemates KIRWAN'S LANE, INSTANT ATTRACTION and DOPPELPUNKT caught the eye with their placings.

Other 1050m heat winners to impresses were BIG PARADE and POETIC CHARMER. The Mark Newnham-trained BIG PARADE, appearing for the first time as a gelding in his fast 1050m heat (63.98; 33.86), did it in style to sprint home for an easy 2.8 lengths win. The consistent POETIC CHARMER (Team Snowden) looks ready to go first-up after comfortably reeling in his rivals from off the pace (64.00; 35.33).

Maiden heat winners showing above average talent included LA FORET, CALIFORNIA SKY and HURT MONEY while the Hinchinbrook colt VOLCANIC ROCK (Waterhouse/Bott) recorded a much quicker time (44.37; 33.78) than the filly GIN MARTINI (45.26; 34.86) in the two 2YO heats over 736m.

X Alchermes; Big Parade; Brazenpine; California Sky; Deepour; Doppelpunkt; Hurt Money; Instant Attraction; Kirwan's Lane; La Foret; Lillemor; Pacific Ocean; Pitchfork; Poetic Charmer; Reelem In Ruby; Rover; Volcanic Rock; Wolfe
