WARWICK FARM November 17

Inside Grass; Good 4

16 Heats – 3 x 1200m (1 Open; 2 Maiden); 7 x 803m (3 2YO; 4 Open); 6 x 800m (6 Maiden)

The Joe Pride stable is in a good place with its sprinters heading into the summer. Always good with his sprinters, Pride has EASY EDDIE, PASSAGE OF TIME and ROYAL WITNESS geared to perform boldly after strong wins in the 803m heats.

EASY EDDIE has bene off the scene for 12 months but he's trials have shown he has lost none of his speed. He did it easily from the front in his strong heat (46.85; 33.14) where the efforts of the placegetters THREEOOD and LASHES were also noteworthy.

PASSAGE OF TIME has needed his trials to reach racing co0njditions and he is ready to go after working strongly to the line to get the better of the smart MISSION DREAM in his heat (46.88;33.42).

The pacy ROYAL WITNESS, back with Pride after time in Queensland with the Edmonds stable, took the time honours clocking a fast 46.81 (33.15) for a sharp win over the equally good SHADOW BRIDGE.

In the six 800m heats for the maidens there was a standout effort from the unraced Written Tycoon filly SIX AGAIN from the David Pfeiffer yard. She looked classy cruising away from her rivals for soft 3.3 lengths win and could obviously recorded quicker time (46.93; 33.49). It was only her second trial after a placing behind two subsequent winners in a Rosehill heat in June – definitely one to follow.

The Hawkes-trained BORDER CONTROL, noted in previous trials, took the time honours in the 800m heats (46.45; 33.22), doing what was needed to hold off a good effort from the runner-up GIGASTAR.

The form in the three 2YO trials over 803m should be solid with the quickest of the three heats recorded by the Goulburn-trained Sooboog filly PRINCESS SPICE (47.37; 33.75). She has good pace and had something left although the strong second by the previously noted HIDE YOUR HEAT confirmed her talent and was visually the better trial.

Chris Waller has another promising youngster in COASTWATCH, a $750,000 Fastnet Rock youngster who was slow to gather speed but took command of his trial on the turn and was strong to the line in good time, running a quicker last 600m (47.77; 33.66) than PRINCESS SPICE. The runner-up CONVERGE also closed strongly and also goes down as one to follow.
