TRIAL POINTERS

ROSEHILL January 15: Annabel Neesham's quality filly ASHEMA, runner up to the highly rated Acrobat at her first start, impressed with her strong heat win in good time (53.95; 34.42). She has trained on well from her debut. The high expectations for the $2.8 million colt MOUNT FUJI could be a step closer after his impressive win in his maiden heat over 10350m (62.50; 34.76). He is a work in progress and is improving with every experience, showing good field sense to charge through the line from well back after having to change course over the last 200m.

WYONG January 7: DELEXO is an unraced Exosphere 3YO who has won three trials at Newcastle, Scone and Wyong in the last seven weeks and is obviously ready to go the races. No early speed here but pulled his way to the front at the 700m and from there was always in control, running to the line under a soft ride to record the fastest of the five 1000m heats (59.70; 34.56). Sure to be well fancied when he makes his debut. EXPRESS AWARD is a precocious Shamus Award filly who jumped straight to the front and was always keener to go faster in her 845m heat. Jess Taylor held her down under a tight ride for a soft win in good time (51.22; 34.74). She wore ear muffs but it's obvious she has ample natural speed.

ROSEHILL December 18: The Matt Dunn-trained QUATUM, successful in his first start at Warwick Farm in July before two defeats, was a standout heat winner. He was in another postcode winning the fastest 900m trial of the morning (53.58; 34.05) by seven lengths after leading by 10 in the middle stages, doing it with plenty in hand.
