ROSEHILL MULTI

RACE 2 (7) SHIHONKA: A combination of potential and improvement should see this stylish Capitalist filly progress strongly from her excellent debut second at Warwick Farm on April 28 when she did her best work late over 1100m. Had shown plenty in her trials and should get all the favours from her good draw.

RACE 4 (16) NAGS TO RICHES: Lightly raced Written Tycoon filly has made an impression winning two of her first three starts and has the scope to measure up to this class after her impressive resuming win over 1100m at Gosford when she won with authority under 59.5kg, leaving a subsequent city winner in third place. Has the tactical speed to utilise her rails draw and can rise to the challenge with a significant 6kg drop in weight.

RACE 7 (5) EMBRACER: Gelded after disappointing in his last prep and showed the cut may have made him into a complete racehorse with his classy first-up black type win over 1100m at Hawkesbury on May 1 where he trounced a number of his rivals in this field. It was a return to the potential he showed in his early wins and while he rises 2kg this looks the right progression for him as he already has the runs on the board over this course and distance.

TRIAL POINTERS

WARWICK FARM May 7: As you would expect star sprinter EDUARDO was too fast for his rivals in the open 740m heat (43.74; 33.51), working well within himself for a soft 3.5 lengths win that sets him up for his Brisbane campaign. The eye catcher behind him was the Group 2 winner WILD PLANET working through the pack over the last 400m for an unextended fourth. NEWSREADER is a progressive filly from the John O'Shea stable and looks in good form to resume after a strong win in the 3YO heat over 740m (44.36; 33.95).

NEWCASTLE May 5: The only 1200m heat was won in good style by SUPER (73.97; 35.00) and while they worked home in slow time he has prospects in his right class. Provincial Championship winner CRISTAL BREEZE produced one of the best trials with a strong third in his 950m open heat won by stablemate SNOWZONE although the time was pedestrian (57.14; 34.61). I am keen to follow the progress of 2YO heat winners TIDAL IMPACT and SONNET STAR, both trained at Wyong by Damian Lane. TIDAL IMPACT coasted home by 4.5 lengths in his heat (49.84; 34.69) while Wellington Boot winner SONNET STAR went quicker (49.36; 34.29) winning her heat by an easy three lengths.

RANDWICK May 3: The boom unraced filly SATIN RIBBONS suffered her first defeat in four trials but little can be read into her second placing in her 1050m heat. She led with ease as she has done in her previous three trial wins before she was throttled down by Tommy Berry over the last 300m. TIGER OF MALAY bounced off his last start failure in G1 company to win a fast 737m heat (43.11; 33.07). PRIME STAR (62.97; 34.06) looked in good form winning in his 1050m heat.

ROSEHILL April 27: The unraced SACHELLO showed good speed to record the fastest time in the five 2YO heats (53.99; 34.71). There was plenty of merit in the 900m heat win by BELLUCI BABE (54.71; 34.43).

RANDWICK April 20: SATIN RIBBONS again showed her outstanding natural talent in her return trial over 740m, jumping brilliantly and opening up a big lead in the first 200m under a tight hold from James McDonald. She led by seven lengths turning for home and was never asked for a serious effort yet put the fastest time of the morning on the board (42.96; 33.06) as she cruised to the line. The 2YO heat times were much quicker than the only open trial over 740m where the winner NEWSREADER recorded a pedestrian 44.02 (33.80). Good winter prospect in LA FORET recorded an impressive open heat win over 1050m. She tracked the leader and extended easily when called on for a soft 1.5 lengths win in good time (62.56; 34.05).

GOSFORD January 19: SATIN RIBBONS was not as visually impressive as her first trial win at Rosehill on January 4 but she again showed abundant natural speed to lead at her leisure and beat older maiden rivals in the fastest 1000m heat (59.82; 36.11). Her last 600m was the slowest of the five trials over the distance.
