WARWICK FARM June 11

Polytrack; Synthetic

5 Heats – 1 x 1175m (Open); 4 x 740m (1 Open; 2 2YO; 1 3YO)

Honours on the morning went to the talented Joe Pride-trained mare THREEOOD.

Back from her first-up black type placing in Brisbane, she went through her gears in the 1175m heat (69.62; 34.29) in good style to forge away over the last 200m for a soft win after sitting outside the lead. She will be well placed in a suitable mares race in coming weeks.

The speedy 3YO FORMEINAWAY was a sharp winner of the fastest 740m heat (42.84; 32.70) and will be suited in a restricted race up to 1100m. EIGHT DIAMONDS was the one taking the eye with her closing third.

For the record the Rubick filly RUBINOCCHI won the fastest of the two 2YO heats (43.13; 33.05) with SILVER THORN taking the other juvenile heat (43.57; 33.20). Youngsters showing they have something to offer with their closing efforts included PARTY FOR ONE; MAROONIYAH and CONFISCATE.

RANDWICK June 8

Randwick A Grass/Polytrack; Soft 6

18 Heats – A Grass 1 x 1200m (Open); 8 x 1045m (3 Open; 4 2YO; 1 Maiden); 7 x 736m (1 Open; 5 2YO; 1 3YO); Polytrack – 1 x 1080m (Open); 1 x 780m (Open)

The set should produce some good winter winners with promising two and three-year-olds from the top stables taking the spotlight.

KING OF SPARTA (Peter & Paul Snowden): Still a maiden but not for long. Took on the top grade youngsters in the autumn where he held his own and this impressive trial win in the equal fastest 2YO heat over 736m (43.65; 33.95) points to him making his mark before the end of the season. Settled behind the pack, split runners at the 300m when five lengths off the leader and easily reeled in the leeway for the softest of wins.

SNEAKY PAIGE (Mark Newnham): Unraced Deep Field filly was having her second trial and did it well to win the fastest heat over 1045m (62.94; 35.70). The speed was on from the jump and she settled kindly in second, sitting two lengths off the leader before responding well when called on for an effort.

PROMISE OF SUCCESS (John O'Shea): Interesting maiden import. She's a 5YO mare by Dansili who had only four starts in the UK up to 1994m for one placing but showed she is in good form for her Australian debut with a soft win in her 1045m heat (64.01; 35.73), improving nicely from a placing in her first local trial. She's in the right hands.

BARBARIC ( Peter & Paul Snowden): Last year's Black Opal Stakes winner didn't come up in one start earlier this season but looks back on track by winning his first trial in 25 weeks in good style. Sat deep outside the lead and was always working well within himself to win his 736m heat under a kind ride, albeit in slow time (44.65; 33.97).

The Freedman brothers have another nice youngster in SON OF SANGIO, who showed speed to lead and held his ground well for a narrow win over a good type in CONGLOMERATE in their equal fastest 736m heat (43.65; 33.86).

John O'Shea had a good morning with his 2YOs, winning heats with promising types I AM LETHAL (64.25; 36.23) in his 1045m heat and BEEP TEST (44.26; 34.09) taking out her 736m heat. The Snowdens also have the Group placed CONSTRUCT in the right form to resume after he recorded his second recent trial win, surging to the line from off the pace for a strong win in his 1045m heat (64.23; 36.32).

Veteran trainer Les Bridge keeps rolling out smart types and he would have been pleased with the sharp 1045m heats wins by his pair MADAM LEGEND (63.45; 35.08) and SKEDADDLE (63.96; 35.77). The latter is a speedy I Am Invincible filly who is set to go on from her impressive debut win over 1100m in February.
