WYONG June 25

Course Proper; Soft 7

21 Heats – 1 x 1200m (Open); 7 x 1000m (2 Open; 4 2YO; 1 Maiden); 13 x 845m (2 Open; 10 2YO; 1 Maiden)

It was a morning for the youngsters with 14 of the 21 heats providing late season 2YOs with trial experience.

However the trial of the morning came from the classy sprinter TRUMBULL in his first hitout after a 17 weeks spell.

He finished second in his open heat over 1000m won by ESCAPED (60.36; 36.05) but underlined his talent by recovering from a poor start that saw him four lengths behind the pack in the first 50 metres. He railed up to midfield at the 600m and his work after finding clear air over the last 300m was impressive as he made ground easily on the winner under a soft ride from Alysha Collett.

Annabel Neasham has something to look forward to after unleashing a couple of nice 2YOs in their first trials.

MILITARY EXPERT, a strong Redoute's Choice colt, was the pick of the 1000m heat winners doing it well within himself to win by a soft 2.45 lengths in good time and splits (61.26; 36.89). Stablemate LOVE TO DREAM, a Written Tycoon filly, also made an impression cruising to an easy win by 4.35 lengths in her 845m heat although her time (53.07; 37.40) was well outside the quicker 2YO heats over the distance recorded by Canberra winner KEITH (51.62; 36.77) and the racy Snitzel filly CHIMES (51.65; 36.27), a winner at Newcastle on debut in March.

Locally-trained JUST FIELD from the in-form Damien Lane stable was responsible for an excellent open heat win over 845m, looping the field from the rear with a sustained sprint over the last 400m to record the fastest time over the distance (51.14; 36.35). He beat the talented pair ISALUTE and THE BOPPER, both responsible for strong placings, in what should be a reliable form trial.

Other fast wins over 845m were recorded by short course specialist RIFLES (51.22; 35;83), maiden 3YO L'ESPERANCE ROCK (51.49; 36.62) and the Matt Smith-trained youngster GOLDEN FIGHTER (51.77; 36.81).

WARWICK FARM June 25

Polytrack; Synthetic

7 Heats – 2 x 1175m (1 Open; 1 Maiden); 5 x 740m (1 Open; 2 2YO; 1 3YO Fillies; 1 Maiden)

Pedestian set of synthetic trials.

Not a lot to get excited about although the Hawkes stable have some likely 2YO types in VINDICATION and GOVERNOR after they finished first and third in the fastest heat over 740m (43.08; 33.09).

Deep Field youngster VINDICATION was having his first trial and looked well educated as he extended nicely over the last 300m to win with authority. GOVERNOR, an I Am Invincible also having his first trial, showed no early speed but made up good ground under a quiet ride and was strong through the line.

CAPRI LANE led and had no trouble holding his rivals to win the open heat over 740m in good time (43.23; 23) with a nice effort from WANDER to finish second after covering a lot ground. Wander's stablemate LANCASTER BOMBER bungled the start and but worked to the line nicely from last over the last 200m.

On pace is the usual pattern in synthetic trials and all seven winners were in the first pair at the 400m. The pattern was set in the first heat when the Joe Pride stablemates INVINCIANO and TITANIUM POWER dominated the quicker of the two 1175m heats from the front (70.14; 34.69).
