Chris Scholtz reviews provincial barrier trials at Hawkesbury on July 19.
HAWKESBURY July 19
Inside Grass; Soft 5
18 Heats – 5 x 1000m (2 Open; 3 2YO); 13 x 800m (2 Open; 9 2YO; 1 Maiden)
It was all about the boys in blue with James Cummings using these trials as the first step towards the spring for many of Godolphin's notable Group performers and young talents.
His cast of 19 runners included the older stars CASCADIAN, COLETTE, CRIADERAS, BEST OF DAYS, PAULELE, EMANATE and GEIST plus a strong list of the stable's talented rising three-year-olds.

The standouts among Godolphin's older horses were PAULELE, EMANATE, CRIADERAS and REGULATION while the others all looked strong as they trialled well within themselves.
Cummings is in a good place with his younger brigade. He won three of the 800m heats for 2YOs with NAPLES (47.45; 33.41), PICARONES (47.71; 33.62) and ATHELRIC (47.55; 33.24) while the classy pair INGRATIATING and TRIFACCIA were responsible for impressive placings.
Away from the Godolphin standouts the unraced American Pharaoh filly HAVE MERCY showed she had trained on well from her debut trial at Gosford with a sharp win over INGRATIATING in the fastest 800m heat for the 2YOS (46.81; 33.09).

In the open trials the last start winner BALLISTIC MOON showed she was holding her form well with an impressive win over several of the Godolphin big guns in her strong open 800m heat (47.33; 33.24) and the maiden TOCOMAH underlined that she has the speed to win races with her easy victory in the fastest 800m heat (46.35; 32.62).

Other to impress with strong 1000m trials included HAMAKI, LATINO BLEND, SAVVY SMART, AUSBRED FLIRT and MONEY FROM THE SKY.
