WARWICK FARM August 9

Course Proper/Polytrack; Good 4/Synthetic

8 Heats - Course Proper 2 x 1100m (Group/Lisyed); 1 x 900m (Group/Listed); Polytrack – 1 x 1175m 9Maiden); 4 x 740m (4 Open)

More black type trials with all the attention on the Annabel Neasham-trained stars Zaaki and Mo'Unga but as expected there was nothing spectacular from either as they were given easy work in their heats on the course proper.

Rosehill Guineas winner MO'UNGA contested the first of two pedestrian black type heats over 1100m heats. He had only three rivals and with a track rider aboard went around at his leisure behind his rivals. He tracked wide and worked through the line to finish 2.26 lengths behind the Derby winner QUICK THINKER in a very slow heat (68.11; 34.84).

Only three runners contested the second 1100m heat won by the good staying mare SHE'S IDEEL in quicker time (66.63; 34.72).

The black type heat over 900m had five line-up with ZAAKI, also ridden by his regular track rider, settling last behind a line of four. He worked easily to the line in what was no more than a working gallop, finishing 5.6 lengths off the Queensland Guineas winner PRIVATE EYE.

PRIVATE EYE travelled three deep in the line of four leaders to the turn and had plenty in hand getting the upper hand late for a strong win (52.14; 33.69). He has now won two trials that point to him sprinting well when he resumes later this month.

There were two notable blackbooker winners in the other heats:-

BALLISTIC LOVER (Joe Pride): She's won five of her 12 starts and made excellent progress last season, winning three of her last five starts including a Listed success at Rosehill in May. Looks to have come back in top order after cruising to a strong win her 740m heat on the polytrack in good time (43.06; 33.51), tracking four wide in the lead under a big hold and striding comfortably to the line under a soft ride.

PROFONDO (Richard Litt): This unraced 3YO colt by Deep Impact could be something special. He's been in the blackbook since he won his second trial at Randwick in May and produced another impressive display to easily take out the fastest of the four 740m heats (42.89; 33.03). Sat behind two leaders and produced a sharp sprint over the last 150 metres to run clear for a soft win.
