Lord Kanaloa (King Kamehameha) was provided with his 19th stakes winner on Sunday courtesy of King Of Koj's (4 c ex Phaenomena by Galileo) victory in the Meguro Kinen (Gr 2, 2500m) at Tokyo.

A winner of his three previous starts, the four-year-old colt brought up his fourth win in succession with a half a length victory over Ice Bubble (Deep Impact) with the same distance back to Stay Foolish (Stay Gold) in third.

The colt is the only winner of dual-winning Galileo (Sadler's Wells) mare Phaenomena, who is herself out of Caumshinaun (Indian Ridge), making her a sister to 2006 Irish 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m) winner Nightime who in turn produced Group 1 winner Ghaiyyath (Dubawi) and Grade 1 scorer Zhukova (Fastnet Rock).

King Of Koj was purchased by Nibutani Farm for ¥31,000,000 ($431,392) at the 2017 JRA Select Yearling and Foal Sale.

Lord Kanaloa's progeny is headed by four top-flight winners including champion mare Almond Eye and Tagaloa, who landed the Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) earlier this year.
