Deep Field surpasses Northern Meteor’s record
On the day Deep Field sired his 81st Australian winner this season to surpass the record of his sire Northern Meteor (Encosta De Lago) who sired 80 winners as a second crop sire in 2013/2014, when Hit The High Note (3 f ex Jokes N Jazz, by It's No Joke) won the Summit Landscapes Maiden Plate (1800m) at Hawkesbury, the Newgate Farm-based sire was also represented by an impressive winner in Hong Kong when Sky Field (3 g ex Laravissante by O'Reilly) broke his maiden in the Mr Award Handicap (1200m) at Sha Tin on Sunday.
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Hit The High Note beat Carlin Trend (Medaglia d’Oro) by a length with another length and a half back to Zounate (Zoustar) in third.
The filly was purchased by Michael Noone for $125,000 2017 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale from the Aquis Farm draft and then sold to Paul Moroney Bloodstock and Go Bloodstock Australia for $220,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Newgate Farm draft.
Hit The High Note is out of Listed winner Jokes N Jazz (It’s No Joke), who was purchased by the Randwick Bloodstock Agency for US$25,000 at the Keeneland November Breeding Sale in 2014. She was then offered carrying the filly in utero at the 2016 Magic Millions National Broodmare and was bought by Zou Jing Qing for $100,000 and was purchased by Heritage Bloodstock for $145,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

The filly is from the family of Group 3-winning pair Miss O’Connor (Roderic O’Connor) and Jazz Princess (Bahhare).
Meanwhile in Hong Kong, Sky Field pulled clear in the final stages to beat Classic Posh (Testa Rossa) by four lengths with another neck back to The Abraxas (Bon Hoffa) in third.
Purchased for NZ$175,000 2018 New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale, the gelding is out of winning mare Laravissante (O’Reilly), who is herself a half-sister to Hong Kong Mile (Gr 1, 1600m) winner The Duke (Danehill) and the dams of Listed winner and Group 1-placed Chambord (Zabeel) and Group 2 winner Keen Array (Bel Esprit).
Deep Field will stand at a fee of $55,000 (inc GST) this spring at Newgate Farm and he will stand alongside his son Cosmic Force, who will be offered to breeders at a fee of $16,500 (inc GST).
