Having sired a double on Saturday, Arrowfield Stud shuttler Maurice (Screen Hero) was provided his fourth first-crop winner courtesy of Infinite's (2 f ex Morganite by Agnes Digital) win over 1600 metres at Niigata on Sunday.

The two-year-old filly scooted clear in the closing stages to post a comfortable two and a half length victory over Belle Vogue (Just A Way), while Tosen Melanie (Victoire Pisa) finished a further three and a half lengths further back in third.

The filly is fifth winner out of four time-winning mare Morganite, whose progeny is headed by Grade 3 winner Black Spinel (Tanino Gimlet).

Morganite herself is a daughter of three-time winning mare Tanzanite (Sunday Silence), making her a half-sister to Grade 2 scorer Danburite (Rulership) and Grade 3-placed Labradorite (King Kamehameha).

Meanwhile, the filly's third dam - Group 3-placed Catherine Parr (Riverman) - produced Listed winner Alondite (El Condor Pasa), while she is also the grandam of Grade 1-winning pair Chrysoberyl (Gold Allure) and Marialite (Deep Impact), Grade 2 scorer Lia Fail (Zenno Rob Roy) and Chrysolite (Gold Allure), who won at Listed level.

Maurice - whose first yearlings hit the sales ring next year - stood at Arrowfield Stud for the past three seasons, but due to coronavirus the son of Screen Hero (Grass Wonder) will not return to the Hunter Valley stud for the upcoming breeding season.
