Arrowfield Stud shuttler Mikki Isle (Deep Impact) was represented by his third first-crop winner on Saturday as Minnie Isle (2 f ex Island Fashion by Petionville) broke her maiden at the second time of asking over 1200 metres at Kokura.

Having finished third over course and distance on August 15, the two-year-old filly went two better when scoring a three length victory over Alm Fir Tree (Epiphaneia). Shigeru Semmu (Kizuna) came home another head away in third.

Purchased for by Tsuyoshi Ono for ¥31,000,000 at the 2018 JRA Select Yearling and Foal Sale, the filly is out of the three-time Grade 1-winning mare Island Fashion (Petionville), who was purchased by Katsumi Yoshida for US$950,000 at the 2009 Keeneland January All-Ages Sale and she is now the sire of six winners.

Island Fashion herself is out of Listed scorer Danzigs Fashion (Native Danzigs), making her a sister to Listed scorer Fashion Trend, while Danzigs Fashion is also the grandam of fellow Listed winner Strut The Canary (Mineshaft).

The Shadai Stallion Station-based Mikki Isle has stood at Arrowfield Stud for the past three seasons, but due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic the stallion will not return to Australia for the 2020 season. His first Australian-bred crop will be two next season.
