Shock Action wins Nisai Stakes for Godolphin.
Sunday's Nisai Stakes (Gr 3, 1600m) at Niigata was won by The Ryuji Okubo-trained Shock Action (2 c ex Reset In Blue by Fastnet Rock) who in winning became the seventh stakes winner for Coolmore's Gleneagles (Galileo).
The Godolphin-raced colt beat the favourite, the Keizo Ito-trained Blue Symphony (Screen Hero) who is also raced by Godolphin, by a length and three quarters with another half length back to Phrase D'Armes (Kizuna) in third.
Shock Action was bought for 65,000gns at the 2018 Tattersalls December Foal Sale by Paca Paca Farm and is the first foal out of dual Listed winner Eurirs (Indian Ridge) who is herself a half-sister to Group 3 winner Romantic Wave (Rock Of Gibraltar) as well as Listed winner Dematil (Orpen) and stakes placed Charlemagne Wood (King Charlemagne).
Further back this is the family of Italian Group 3 winner Libano (Indian Ridge) and dual Listed winner Slapper (Indian Ridge).
Gleneagles has two crops of racing age and his stakes winners include the Group 2 winning pair Royal Dornoch and Royal Lytham.
Meanwhile at Sapporo former shuttler Johannesburg (Hennessy) sired his 69th stakes winner when Eighteen Girl (4 f ex Center Gran Tasse by Agnes Tachyon) won the Keeneland Cup (Gr 3, 1200m). Right On Cue (Shamardal) was beaten a length and a quarter for second whilst Dimension (Deep Impact) was another half length back in third.
Johannesburg's stakes winners are headed by seven Group / Grade 1 winners including Scat Daddy and the Blue Gum Farm-based sire Turffontein who will stand for $6,600 (inc GST) this season. Johannesburg stood in Australia for five seasons between 2003 and 2007 and was sold to Shizunai Stallion Station in Japan in 2009.
