British-bred Justaucorps (2 c ex Jemayel by Lope De Vega) won over 1200 metres at Hanshin on Sunday and in doing so provided Arrowfield shuttler Shalaa (Invincible Spirit) with his 19th winner and 18th from his first northern hemisphere-bred crop.

Ridden by Christophe Lemaire and trained by Ryuji Okubo, Justaucorps scored a neck victory over Jasper Gold (Khozan) with Paramount (Black Tide) the same distance back in third.

Justaucorps is the first winner out of the 2016 Prix Saint-Alary (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Jemayel (Lope De Vega) who was trained by Jean-Claude Rouget for Al Shaqab Racing. The colt’s second dam is group 3 placed mare Nawal (Homme De Loi) who has produced nine winners including Grade 1 winning colt Mast Track (Mizzen Mast).

Jemayel was privately purchased by William Johnson Bloodstock with Justaucorps in utero and Shadai Farm retained him to race.

Shalaa’s first southern hemisphere-bred crop include his Breeders’ Plate (Gr 3, 1000m) winning son Shaquero and Group 3 placed daughter Nice For What, whilst in the northern hemisphere he has sired three stakes performers in No Speak Alexander, Legal Attack and Saeiqa.

Shalaa’s 2021 fee at Haras de Bouquetot has been set at €15,000.
