Akaitorino Musume adds valuable black-type to CV in Queen Cup

Late Shadai Stallion Station-based sire Deep Impact (Sunday Silence) was provided with his 169th stakes winner on Saturday when the well-bred Akaitorino Musume (3 f ex Apapane by King Kamehameha) kicked off her three-year-old career with a victory in the Queen Cup (Gr 3, 1600m) at Tokyo. 

A winner of two of her three starts as a two-year-old, the three-year-old filly came out on top of a close finish to beat Art de Vivre (King Kamehameha) by a neck, while Kukuna (King Kamehameha) was the same distance back in third. 

Akaitorino Musume is out of multiple Grade 1-winning champion Apapane (King Kamehameha), making her a sister to stakes-placed pair Jinambo and Rhineback. 

Further back, the filly’s fourth dam is Listed winner Alvarada (Hard Work) - the dam of fellow Listed scorer November Tender (Youth), while she is also the grandam of Listed-winning duo Mashaka’s Pride (Truce Maker) and It’sallinthechase (Take Me Out). 

Being out of a daughter of King Kamehameha (Kingmambo), the filly is bred on the same cross as six stakes winners, headed by Group 1 scorer Wagnerian. 

Deep Impact, who stood at the Shadai Stallion Station for his whole breeding career, died in 2019 and he was represented by his sire sons Tosen Stardom, who stands at Woodside Park Stud and Coolmore Stud-based Saxon Warrior in Australia last season.
