Former Darley shuttle sire Teofilo (Galileo) sired his 52nd Group winner when Godolphin homebred Territorial (7 h ex Conservation by Street Cry) won the Kokura Daishoten (Gr 3, 1800m) at Kokura in Japan. A previous winner of two Listed races, the seven-year-old extended his record to eight wins from 32 starts.

Territorial raced handy to the speed in third position chasing the tearaway leaders. He stayed only gamely in the center of the course to score by a nose over Boccherini (King Kamehameha) with a further length and a half back to Dimdi (Rulership) in third.

The seven-year-old entire is out of the unraced Street Cry (Machiavellian) mare Conservatoire, herself a daughter of Prix Vermeille (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Mezzo Soprano (Darshaan). This is the direct family of Rahy (Blushing Groom) with Territorial’s third dam Morn Of Song being a sister to him.

Teofilo who is the sire of 95 stakes winners enjoyed a very fruitful 2020 siring no fewer than six Group 1 winners. Territorial is Teofilo’s only stakes winner out of a Street Cry mare, but he sired the Group 1 winner Special Fighter and Listed winner General Sherman out of Mahiavellian (Mr. Prospector) mares.

The son of Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) is standing at Kildangan Stud in Ireland for a fee of €30,000.
