Menari Magic makes a perfect start to her career
Menari Magic (2 f ex Iadore Tantrums by Commands) made the perfect start to her career on Saturday, breaking her maiden over 1000 metres at Toowoomba and in doing so provided her Newgate Farm-based sire Menari (Snitzel) his first winner from his first runner.
A $30,000 buy for her trainer, Paul Butterworth, at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale when offered by her breeder Gleeson Thoroughbreds, Menari Magic came into Saturday's race following two barrier trials and beat Mishani Warfare - a son of fellow first season sire The Mission (Choisir) - by a neck.
"She'll go to the paddock now and then we'll look at the Magic Millions," said Paul Buttterworth.
"We always thought she was an early horse and she's had no trouble with her shins, but was muscle sore after her first trial. She came out of the second trial much better and I knew she'd be strong at the finish today."
Menari has only 19 foals in his first crop and his 2021 fee is advertised at $11,000 (inc GST).
