Visiting jockey Tom Marquand is determined to ride as many winners as possible during his latest stint in Australia and has eight rides at Randwick on Saturday, including La Mexicana (I Am Invincible) in the Surround Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) and Prince Fawaz (Fastnet Rock) in the Chipping Norton Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m).

Marquand finished his 14-day hotel quarantine on Tuesday and said that he used the time to his advantage ahead of his seven-week stay in Australia.

"If anything it gave me extra drive, having to do that and not just going through my normal life,'' Marquand said.

"I knew what I wanted to do when I was in there and walked out the right way with the right fitness.

"It was a pretty mad year in the end, stats wise my best ever by a long way especially taking into consideration how short the season was at home."

Marquand, who notched up 147 winners in just over six months in Europe last year, rode his first two Group 1 winners aboard Addeybb (Pivotal) the Ranvet Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m), last autumn and is hopeful of adding to that tally during his stay this year.

"It's a massive book of rides. I'm feeling like I have to do extra well this time to make it feel worthwhile sitting in a hotel room for two weeks,'' he said.

"And I'll have to do a few days (quarantine) when I get back as well.”
