I Am Invincible regains his lead at the head of the leading sires table

New Group 1 winners
Yarraman Park's I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) sired his 13th Group 1 winner – fourth this season - on Saturday when Lombardo (5 g ex Swinging Babe by Encosta De Lago) won The Goodwood (1200m) at Morphettville. A $300,000 purchase by Aquis Farm and Mick Price Racing & Breeding at the 2018 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Lombardo took his record to eight wins and two placings in 16 career starts when he beat Halvorsen (Magnus) by a length and a half. I Am Invincible is now back at the head of the leading sires table in Australia by earnings, with his earnings at $180,843 ahead of So You Think (High Chaparral). The son of Invincible Spirit (Green Desert) leads the table by winners sits second in the table by stakes winners – two behind Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) for the season.

 

New stakes winners
Three for Akeed Mofeed

The Amazonian (3 f ex Saramenha by Snitzel) was the winner of Saturday's Group 3 SA Fillies Classic (2500m), becoming stakes winner number three for Akeed Mofeed (Dubawi). Having originally begun his career at Goldin Farms, Akeed Mofeed moved to Swettenham Stud in 2019 and then returned to his original South Austrailan base in 2021 when his fee was advertised at $8,800 (inc GST).

 

25 for Foxwedge
Foxy Frida (4 m ex Family Portrait by Excellent Art) won her sixth race and first at stakes level in Saturday's Listed Centaurea Stakes (2015m) at Morphettville, giving Foxwedge (Fastnet Rock) his 25th stakes winner. The mare, who is trained by Andrew Noblet and had been passed in for $50,000 at the 2019 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale by Mill Park Stud, beat La Dragontea (Lope De Vega) by a convincing two and a half lengths. Having begun his stud career at Newgate Farm, Foxwedge now stands at Woodside Park Stud where his 2022 fee has been set at $11,000 (inc GST).

 

48 for Written Tycoon
The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained Maximillius (2 c ex Scandiva by Fastnet Rock) broke his maiden in Saturday's Group 3 David Coles AM Stakes (1200m), giving Yulong Stud's Written Tycoon (Iglesia) his 48th stakes winner. Bred by Rob Crabtree's Dorrington Farm, Maximillius becomes the third winner from as many foals to race out of Group 2 winner and Group 1 placed mare Scandiva (Fastnet Rock), with this being the family of Black Caviar (Bel Esprit), All Too Hard (Casino Prince) and Ole Kirk – another son of Written Tycoon. Maximillius is one of 11 stakes winners sired by Written Tycoon this season with his leading earner being dual Group 3 winning juvenile Coolangatta, who also finished third in the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) in March.

 

16 for Zed
Verry Flash (7 g ex Opulence by Danroad) – a brother to Verry Elleegant - won the Listed Rangitkei Gold Cup (1600m) at Trentham on Saturday, handing Zed (Zabeel) his 16th stakes winner. In addition to being the sire of 11-time Group 1 winner Verry Elleegant, Zed has also sired Group 1 winner Survived and the Group 2 winning pair Jacksstar and Robusto.
