Tinkermosa claims Belle Of The Turf. Friday's Belle Of The Turf (Gr 3, 1600m) at Gosford was won by the John Sargent-trained five-year-old mare Tinkermosa (Alamosa) who in winning provided her sire with his 16th stakes winner.

A NZ$50,000 New Zealand Bloodstock Select Yearling Sale purchase by her trainer, Tinkermosa defeated Statuesquely (Medaglia d'Oro) by a long neck with the same distance back to Saas Fee (All Too Hard) in third.

"She was really good," winning jockey Jeff Penza told Sky Thoroughbred Central.

"Me and this horse go back a long way. I broke her maiden on her here. It's good to win a nice race on her."

Friday's victory took Tinkermosa's record to 5 wins and 7 placings from 23 starts with prize money of $273,240. She is out of the winning Giant's Causeway (Storm Cat) mare Tinkerbabu who is herself a daughter of the Mackinnon Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) winner La Bella Dama (Desert Sun).

Alamosa (O'Reilly) stands at Wellfield Lodge in New Zealand where his 2019 fee was set at NZ$5,000 (plus GST). His progeny are headed by the Group 1 winners Stolen Dance and Kirramosa.
