Former Darley shuttler Night Of Thunder (Dubawi) sired his first winner in Australia on Wednesday when his daughter, A Beautiful Night, won over 1000 metres at Flemington for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.

Having her second start, A Beautiful Night scored by a nose over Bombay Rocket (Snitzel) with a length back to Stormborn (Headwater) in third. She is now likely to head towards the Blue Diamond Preview (Gr 3, 1000m) at Caulfield later this month.

"She's a tough filly and she came through her first run really well," Eustace said. "We were in two minds whether to give her a little freshen after her first start and look towards the Preview but we pushed on to this race and it's paid off."

Night Of Thunder shuttled to Australia for just one season. He made a good start to his stallion career in the Northern Hemisphere last year and in November equalled the European record for stakes winners by a first season sire when his daughter Keep Busy won the Prix Yacowlef (Listed, 1100m) at Chantilly.

Night Of Thunder's 2020 fee at Darley's Kildangan Stud in Ireland is set at €25,000.
