Headwater sired his second winner when Mileva won on debut over 1000m at Murray Bridge.
Vinery Stud's Headwater (Exceed And Excel) sired his second winner on Saturday when the Dan Clarken-trained filly Mileva (2 f ex Lady Einstein by Magic Albert) won on debut over 1000 metres at Murray Bridge.
Scoring in a time of 58.42 and sent off favourite having won a barrier trial at the track on January 2, Mileva beat the Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained Jyoti (Akeed Mofeed) by a short-neck with the same distance back to Baraconi (Nicconi) in third.
A $42,000 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale purchase by Oopy Macgillivray from the draft of Little Hills Pastoral Company, Mileva is out of dual winner Lady Einstein (Magic Albert) who is herself out of five-time winner Relativity (Geiger Counter). Group 2 winner Second Effort (Mossman) is one of five winners out of Relativity while Mileva's third dam is the Listed winner Western Zip (Zephyr Zip).
Headwater, who won the Silver Slipper Stakes (Gr 2, 1100m), has 21 yearlings catalogued for the forthcoming Inglis Classic Yearling Sale that begins its 3 day run on 9 February. He now sits at the head of the first season sires table in Australia by winners with Spill The Beans (Snitzel), who is also the sire of two winners, in second and he is second in the first season sires table by earnings behind Pride Of Dubai (Street Cry).
