Brilliant colt Yes Yes Yes has been retired and will take up stud duties at Coolmore Australia.
Brilliant colt Yes Yes Yes (Rubick) has been retired and will take up stud duties at Coolmore Australia after it was confirmed by Chris Waller's stable on Monday the horse had suffered a small lesion in a tendon in his left front leg.
There were concerns surrounding the colt's health after he did not partake in a gallop between races at Randwick on Saturday following the stable's discovery of heat in his leg that morning.
"Following our initial concerns on Saturday after noticing some heat in a leg of Yes Yes Yes, it has now been confirmed by our vet that it was due to a small lesion in a tendon in his left front leg," said the Waller stable via a press release on Monday morning.
"Yes Yes Yes does not present as lame or sore, however despite it being at the minor end of the scale of a tendon injury the vet does assure me that if we were to push on with his campaign it could quickly become a more significant problem and as with any horse this cannot be contemplated.
"With the Autumn carnival just around the corner and the world awaiting the next stage of his exciting career, it comes as a tough day to notify connections of Yes Yes Yes and supporters of racing that it is in the best interests of the horse that he be retired. This decision has been made based on a number of well-known veterinary facts in addition to expert advice from around the world," the release continued.
"Racing can deliver cruel blows but my team are proud to look back on the short career of Yes Yes Yes and admire the achievements he made."
The son of Rubick (Encosta De Lago) kicked off his career by winning two starts in the spring as a two-year-old before showing an immense burst of speed to win the Todman Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) in March.
Such was the impressive manner of his victory in the Group 2 breeding powerhouse Coolmore Stud, who stand the colt's sire Rubick, purchased a 50 per cent share in Yes Yes Yes on the eve of his Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) - a race in which he eventually finished a good seventh.
After being kept in training as a three-year-old, Yes Yes Yes finished runner-up in both the Run To The Rose (Gr 2, 1200m) and the Golden Rose (Gr 1, 1400m). However, his crowning glory would come when trouncing his rivals to land the third running of the $14 million Everest (1200m) at Randwick - defeating ten Group 1 winners in the process.
"I would like to thank Coolmore Stud and the entire ownership group for their support and also to my staff for their role in achieving great success with this horse and their hard work behind the scenes," the release continued.
"It has been a brief but amazing ride with a wonderful colt and I am sure will make a great stallion in the future given the talent and ability he possessed as a racehorse."
Purchased by Darren Weir and John Foote for $200,000 at the 2018 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Kitchwin Hills draft, Yes Yes Yes won four of his eight career starts which saw him accumulate $7,174,450 in career prize-money.
The colt is out of three time-winning mare Sin Sin Sin (Fantastic Light) making him a half-brother to five time winner Dee Nine Elle (Duporth) and four time winner Another Sin (Duporth).
Sin Sin Sin herself is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Hot As Hell (County) and Listed-winning pair Flaming Hot (County) and Craig's Dragon (Catbird), while she also counts Harlem River (Xaar) - the dam of Listed winner Harlem River (Fastnet Rock) and Hell It's Hot (Zeditave), who produced dual Group 1-winning mare In Her Time (Time Thief), as her other half-siblings.
A Sebring (More Than Ready) half-brother to Yes Yes Yes was purchased by Kennewell Racing and Group 1 Bloodstock for $700,000 at last month's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Coolmore Australia's Tom Magnier said via statement on Monday: "Yes Yes Yes's exhilarating Everest victory will long live in the memory of all who witnessed it and we feel privileged to have been a part of the exciting journey on which this electrifying animal and the dedicated team at Chris Waller Racing took us.
"As disappointed as we are that this - thankfully minor - injury prevents our being able to show off Yes Yes Yes on the international stage at Royal Ascot in June, it is to Chris and his team, including the horse's devoted carer Mick Channon Jnr that our thoughts go out. For them a wonderful journey has ended; for us another is just beginning.
"Like all at Chris Waller Racing and anyone else ever involved with this son of Rubick, we are certain that Yes Yes Yes takes to his new career at stud credentials that will see him succeed in transmitting to his progeny the same qualities of speed and precocity, allied with a wonderful temperament, that took him to the pinnacle of achievement on the track.
"At Coolmore, as at Chris Waller Racing, the welfare of the horses always comes first and Yes Yes Yes can look forward to a healthy and happy stud career in the hands of horsemen equally and absolutely dedicated to his care."
Yes Yes Yes will join the Coolmore Australia stud roster for the 2020 breeding season.
