Ole Kirk (2 c ex Naturale by Bel Esprit) landed Saturday's Talindert Stakes (Listed, 1100m) at Flemington on debut and in doing so provided Woodside Park's Written Tycoon (Iglesia) with his 32nd stakes winner.

Trained by Team Hawkes, Ole Kirk beat the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Nitrous (Deep Field) by a short neck with the same distance back to Chairman's Stakes (Gr 3, 1000m) winner Mildred (Hinchinbrook) in third.

Ole Kirk holds a nomination for next weekend's Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) but co-trainer Wayne Hawkes has said that the race is likely to come too soon.

"Next Saturday is probably a bit too soon and to be fair we just wanted to see how he ran and take stock from there," Hawkes said.

"There's a stack more races than next week, but we'll take that one today."

Bred by Gilgai Farm, Ole Kirk was bought by International Thoroughbred Solutions for $675,000 at last year's Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Gilgai Farm and is raced by a partnership that includes Neil Werrett and Rich Jamieson's Gilgai Farm.

He is the first foal out of the unraced mare Naturale (Bel Esprit) who is a sister to multiple Group 1 winning undefeated champion Black Caviar and a half-sister to Group 1-winning sire All Too Hard (Casino Prince), being out of Helsinge (Desert Sun).

Ole Kirk's third dam is the Group 2 winner Scandinavia (Snippets) who produced eight winners headed by Magnus (Flying Spur), Wilander (Exceed And Excel), Scandiva (Fastnet Rock) and Arctic Flight (Flying Spur).

Naturale was covered by Exceed And Excel (Danehill) last October having missed to Cable Bay (Invincible Spirit) the season prior.

Ole Kirk became the eighth juvenile stakes winner for Written Tycoon who also sired two-year-old Group 1 winners Written By, Capitalist and La Luna Rosa. The Woodside Park-based sire his 25 lots catalogued for next month's Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
