Sooboog (Snitzel) will stand for an unchanged fee of $13,200 (inc GST) in 2020, Kitchwin Hills announced yesterday.

Sooboog's first yearlings have been well received at the yearling sales, selling to date at an average of $88,000, almost seven times his service fee. The son of Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) enjoyed his best result at the recent Inglis Premier Yearling Sale when Aquis Farm parted with $250,000 for a filly by the sire out of Not A Single Doubt's (Redoute's Choice) half-sister Bella Sunday (Sunday).

Michael Malone of Kitchwin Hills said he has been satisfied with the way the market has responded to the stallion's first crop of yearlings.

"Kitchwin Hills are really excited by what we are seeing not only on type, but importantly the attitudes of these yearlings," said Malone."You know when your senior yearling staff are investing their own hard earned into finding a good mare for him, and that this is all based on what they are working with in the paddock daily, those signs are really encouraging.

"Then to see the way the industry has responded with yearling buyers like John Hawkes amongst others securing multiple yearlings…there is something pretty exciting brewing here.

"With the buzz and interest coming at us for the upcoming season we thought about raising his fee and discussed at length all the signs that we are seeing, however to be frank about the situation, we are six months away from the ultimate measurement of success, the race track."

Sooboog has stood for all three seasons at a fee of $13,200 (inc GST) and he covered 152 mares in 2017, 178 in 2018 and 93 in 2019.

"Sooboog will have 300+ two-year-old's unleashed via some of Australia's leading trainers of precocity when this 2020 crop hits sales rings around Australia," said Malone. Given the original backers of Sooboog have their foot on a chunk of his 2020 nominations, there is subsequently a limited number of bookings available. Kitchwin are really keen to ensure Sooboog covers the best crop of mares he has seen to date. Having a tight book will allow us to do so."
