State Of Class scores at Morphettville on Saturday.
With Exceed And Excel (Danehill) siring a new stakes winner at Flemington on Saturday, his sire son Outreach (Exceed And Excel) opened sired his second winner when State Of Class (2 g ex Piece Of Class by Encosta De Lago) landed the Adelaide Festival of Racing 2YO Handicap (1000m) at Morphettville.
Having finished fourth on debut at Murray Bridge, the gelding hit the line well to beat Crown Mint (Hallowed Crown) by three-quarters of a length.
Out of Encosta De Lago (Fairy King) mare Piece Of Class, making the gelding a half-brother to two other winners, the gelding's yearling half-sister by Woodside Park Stud's Rich Enuff (Written Tycoon) was purchased by Ciaron Maher Racing for $40,000 during the Showcase session at last week's Inglis Premier Yearling Sale. The filly was catalogued as Lot 697.
Piece Of Class is out Group 2 winner Segments (Mossman) - the dam of four winners and she is also a sister to Group 2 winner and Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) runner-up Pure Energy (Mossman).
Further back this is family of New Zealand 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Our Cure (Sir Tristram). Piece Of Class was not served in 2018 and has most recently been covered by Sun Stud shuttler National Defense (Invincible Spirit).
Outreach stood at Widden Stud for a fee of $7,700 (inc GST) where he covered 110 mares.
