Coolmore Stud-based first season sire Pride Of Dubai (Street Cry) strengthened his stranglehold in the race to become Australia's champion first season stallion when he sired his seventh first-crop winner courtesy of Thudson's (2 c ex Thud by Snitzel) dominant debut performance at Ballarat on Monday.

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained two-year-old colt scooted clear to beat Fender Bender (Street Boss) by just over a length in the Craigs Royal Hotel Maiden Plate (1100m).

Purchased by his trainers for $80,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Glastonbury Stud draft, the colt is out of two-time winning Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) mare Thud, who is herself a half-sister to Listed-placed Fulfil A Wish (Commands).

The colt's third dam is Vanity Stakes (Gr 3, 1400m) winner Forest Express (Kaaptive Edition) and she is out of Myra's Best (Pampapaul), making her a half-sister to Listed winner Waky Na (Ahonoora) - who in turn produced Group 1 winner Waky Nao (Alzao) and Wakytara (Danehill) - the dam of German Group 3 winner Wai Key Star (Soldier Hollow). Wakytara also produced the dam of German champion two-year-old filly Whispering Angel (Soldier Hollow).

Thud was purchased by Hilldene from the Kitchwin Hills carrying the colt at the 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale. Glastonbury Farms then re-offered the mare at last year's renewal of the Gold Coast breeding stock sale and she was snapped up by Olly Tait's Twin Hills Stud for $150,000.

In 2019, the mare's Astern (Medaglia d'Oro) weanling was purchased by Brian McWilliam for $25,000 at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, while in 2019 she foaled a colt by Darley sire Lonhro (Octagonal) and has most recently been served by fellow Darley stallion Epaulette (Commands).

Pride Of Dubai's seven winners are headed by Listed winner Tanker and this latest victor means he moves over $400,000 in earnings clear of nearest rival Spill The Beans (Snitzel) who is sitting in second place having sired five winners.

Pride Of Dubai has three lots set to go through the ring at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale which gets underway on Tuesday and the stallion has nine lots set to sell at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale which begins at Riverside Stables on April 7.

Snitzel is the broodmare sire of 106 winners, including six stakes winners headlined by 2014 Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Mossfun (Mossman) who is out of his unraced daughter Eye For Fun.
