Forty-eight hours after King's Legacy (Redoute's Choice) landed the Inglis Sires' Produce Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m), James Harron was still celebrating the colt's impressive elite-level victory.

"It was a dream come true - he was one of the best bred horses we have ever had anything to do with," said Harron.

"He is also a great character, he just gives you everything and is a real pleasure to have around. It was also pleasing to see that tenacity and put his head down and chase down a really good horse in Prague - it was incredibly exciting.

"It was great for all our owners who have been very loyal and they are wonderful, it was super to get a result for them and also all the stable who have worked so hard and put so much into the horse. Racing, as everyone knows, can go up and down and have it's peaks and troughs, but Saturday was a great day for everybody.

A $1.4 million purchase by James Harron at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in 2019 from the Segenhoe Stud draft, the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained King's Legacy won the BJ McLachlan (Gr 3, 1200m) in December before running fifth in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic (RL, 1200m) in January.

"We obviously won the BJ McLachlan very well and set himself up for a berth in the Magic Millions. The Magic Millions probably wasn't the ideal race for him, but it was probably a too bigger a card to pass up and it probably was a track with not enough space for him and he got quite crowded.

"To be honest, we were actually very pleased with the run and the trip away was good for him."

Harron explains they were always confident he would relish the longer distances and the Inglis Sires' was always the long range plan.

"All the guys said that when this horse gets out to 1400 metres he will be dynamite," said Harron.

"When he came back this prep we sat down and made a long range plan with him just to have one trial, run in the Slipper and then the Sires' and Champagne were going to be are key targets, so it is nice to have a plan that comes off as everyone knows it doesn't always happen that way with horse racing."

Despite his ninth place effort in the Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m), Harron was pleased with the performance and believed the race got him spot on for last weekend's 1400 metre Group 1.

"The Slipper was the right race to really bring his fitness on and he ran some good sectionals from the 600 metres to 800 metres, which gave us a good bit of confidence for getting out a bit," said Harron.

"After the race he pulled up really well and to be fair to the Snowden's they said that they had him where they wanted him and Saturday proved that right - it was a brilliant day."
