James Harron got his name on the buyers sheet at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale on Tuesday as he went to $670,000 for a filly by Juddmonte Farms-based unbeaten champion Frankel (Galileo) describing the filly as 'one of the best' he had seen by the sire.

Catalogued as Lot 143 and offered by Evergreen Stud Farm, the filly is out of champion mare Princess Coup (Encosta De Lago), who has produced five winners including Group 3 winner and Group 1-placed Thewizardofoz (Redoute's Choice).

Princess Coup herself is a three-quarter-sister to Group 2 winner Sovereign Nation (Encosta De Lago).

Frankel is the sire of 51 stakes winners worldwide, with his Australian runners headed by three stakes winners; Miss Fabulass, Finche and Group 2-winning juvenile Hungry Heart, who finished fifth in the Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) last month.

Harron said he was impressed with the filly's demeanor when he went to inspect her on the farm before the sale.

"The mare was obviously a superstar and it is great to see her produce such an amazing filly in this Frankel. It is probably one of the best Frankel's I have laid eyes on," said Harron.

"The filly didn't turn a hair when I went to look at her a few times. She had a wonderful walk on her, beautiful attitude and a wonderful depth of great girth. She is a very exciting filly for us and hopefully she can do well on the track and then be part of the broodmare band for a long time to come."

Harron said due to the current climate it was hard to value the stock, but he felt the $670,000 price-tag for the filly was about right.

"It cost a lot of money to produce these fillies and a lot of breeders have put a lot of money and risk in to that and I think for this sort of quality and this calibre of horse I think it was a fair price, but in this current market is quite difficult to understand where the mark is. I think you have to put a price on what suits you and drive on from there. We were happy and I think that was around the right mark.

"We have always bought fillies over the years for different owners, so we just go through and do all the work and get as many shortlisted as we can. It has always been a sale we have been picky at. We really try and focus on what we really want here and it is a good chance to pick up some really blue-chip quality assets."

Commenting on the day's trade, Harron said: "I think the sale has done extraordinarily well given the circumstances."
