Tom Marquand continued his incredible run of results in Australia as he steered the Anthony Cummings-trained Indy Car (3 g ex Zulia by Hussonet) to victory in the South Pacific Classic (Listed, 1400m) at Randwick on Saturday.

The gelding pulled clear in the final 100 metres to beat Icebath (Sacred Falls) by a length and a half in a victory that also provided the late Widden Stud sire Sebring (More Than Ready) with his 59th stakes winner.

"He is a really nice horse and will continue up the ladder," Cummings said.

"Racing NSW has transferred the Hawkesbury Guineas to Rosehill which looks a nice race for him.

"There is a three-year-old mile race in Queensland so I need to see the detail to see if that makes sense."

Indy Car was retained to race by Magic Millions owner Gerry Harvey when he failed to make his reserve at both the 2018 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and the Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YOs In Training later on that year.

The gelding is the first stakes winner for two generations of his pedigree, while his third dam Zali (Danehill) produced Listed winner Zauberin (Zabeel).

Zali herself is out of Group 1 winner Skating (At Talaq), making her a half-sister to Group 3 winning sire Murtajil (Rock Of Gibraltar), Listed winner Sunset Run (End Sweep) and Magic Millions 2YO Classic (RL, 1200m) winner and sire Bradbury's Luck (Redoute's Choice).

Meanwhile, the mare's sister - Skates - is the dam of 2015 Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner and now Coolmore Stud-based sire Vancouver (Medaglia d'Oro), fellow Group 1 winner Juste Monmente (Giant's Causeway) and Captain Coltish (Fusaichi Pegasus).

In 2019, the gelding's dam - Zulia - produced a filly by Westbury Stud-based Redwood (High Chaparral) and had most recently been covered by Redwood's barnmate Telperion (Street Cry).

The gelding is bred on the same cross as Group 1 winner Lucky Bubbles.

Sebring died of a heart attack at Widden Stud last year and the victory provided Hussonet (Mr Prospector) with his 84th stakes winner as a broodmare sire.
