Untamed (2 c ex She's A Wildcat by Fastnet Rock) proved too strong for his rivals in the Fernhill Mile (Listed, 1600m) at Randwick on Saturday - leading home a quinella for Coolmore Stud-based sire Pierro (Lonhro) and becoming his 22nd stakes winner.

Last seen finishing second to Holyfield (I Am Invincible) in The Schweppervescence Handicap (Gr 3, 1400m), the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained two-year-old colt showed a powerful burst of speed inside the final 100 metres to overhaul his opponents, eventually beating Wheelhouse (Pierro) by a nose.

Paul Snowden said the stable was confident Untamed would appreciate a distance rise in the Fernhill, run over the same track and distance as next Saturday's Champagne Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m).

"All he wants to do is please you. You could see the closing little bit he was going to get there, it was just a matter of when, and he got there on the line," Snowden said.

"He has always had a tendency to relax in his races and hit the line so we were pretty confident up to a mile and a little bit further he was certainly going to come into his own."

Purchased for $450,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by China Horse Club and Newgate Bloodstock, the colt is one of three winners and now the first stakes winner out of She A Wildcat (Fastnet Rock), who is herself a sister to elite level winner and now Group 1-producing Woodside Park-based sire Foxwedge and Listed scorer She's A Fox.

Further back this is family as Listed winner Miss Timebank (Water Bank) and Grade 3 winner Count The Time (Regal Search).

Anthony Cummings purchased the colt's Flying Artie (Artie Schiller) half-sister for $80,000 at this year's edition of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, while She's A Wildcat has a weanling colt by the same sire and was covered again by the Newgate Stud-based sire in October.

Luskin Park will offer the mare during the Inglis Chairman's Sale which will take place as a virtual sale online on May 8. The mare is catalogued as Lot 10.

Pierro is currently sitting at the top of Australia's leading sires table by earnings.

The colt is bred on the same cross as Group 3 winner Rock, while Untamed became stakes winner number 26 for Fastnet Rock (Danehill) as a broodmare sire.
