The Damien Lane-trained Girls Kick On (2 f ex Placement by Savabeel) broke her maiden at the third time of asking as she took out the RC McGuigan BMW Handicap (1000m) at Port Macquarie on Friday and in the process became Arrowfield Stud resident Scissor Kick's (Redoute's Choice) first winner.

Having finished third and second respectively on her first two outings, the two-year-old filly managed to get her head in front, beating Bay Of Bengal (Sepoy) by two and a quarter lengths.

Purchased by Glenvale Park for $12,000 from the Bhima Stud draft at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Girls Kick On is out of the Group 1-placed Savabeel (Zabeel) mare Placement, whose three foals to race have all been winners and include the stakes placed Berkshire Lady (Star Witness).

Placement herself is a three-quarter sister to Group 3 winner and Group 1-placed Strike The Stars (Savabeel).

In 2019 Placement produced a colt by Coolmore Stud-based So You Think (High Chaparral) and was covered by his barnmate Rubick (Encosta De Lago) in September.

Scissor Kick is currently standing at Haras d'Etreham in Normandy.
