The Levi Kavanagh-trained Wild Vixen (3 f ex Amy's Glen by Shamardal) proved too classy for her rivals when she landed the HC Nitschke Stakes (Listed, 1400m) at Morphettville on Saturday and in the process handed the Woodside Park Stud-based sire Foxwedge (Fastnet Rock) with his 18th stakes winner and 11th in Australia.

Last seen finishing third at Sandown-Lakeside, the filly pulled clear in the final stages to post a three-quarter length victory over Really Discreet (Helmet).

"I had her set for that race second-up and it couldn't have gone better. It went exactly to plan," said Kavanagh.

"She was probably just a bit underdone in her first-up run and the 1200 doesn't suit her as much as the 1400 of today's race," he said.

"We may go back to Adelaide in a couple of weeks, but I may just keep her to the 1400 and there's a 1400 race here at Flemington in a few weeks for three-year-old fillies."

Purchased for $100,000 from the Tyreel Stud draft at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Wild Vixen is out of Listed-placed Shamardal (Giant's Causeway) mare Amy's Glen, whose other two foals to race have all been winners.

Amy's Glen herself is out of Listed-placed mare Carlin (Scenic), who is herself Group 2-placed Walk On The Wild Side (Snaadee).

Amy's Glen was bought by Andrew Williams Bloodstock for $100,000 at the Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale in foal to Hinchinbrook (Fastnet Rock) and the resultant foal was purchased by Ron Quinton for $115,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale earlier this year. The mare has most recently been covered by another son of Fastnet Rock (Danehill) in Twin Hills Stud-based sire Smart Missile having produced a filly by that same sire last October.
