Former Aquis Farm shuttler Dream Ahead (Diktat) sired his 28th stakes winner on Saturday when the Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained Ringbolt (2 g ex Maxi Dress by Shamardal) landed the Sires' Produce Stakes (Gr 3, 1400m) at Morphettville.

Having the second start of his career having finished fourth on his first start Balaklava, the gelding pulled clear in the final stages to beat stablemate Violinist (Fastnet Rock) by a length and a quarter.

"He was a bit of a drunken sailor at Balaklava and we elected to go with the blinkers," Calvin McEvoy said.

"We only really gave him one bit of work in them and he just pinged out of the gates today and was always on the bridle for Johnny. He was very strong.

"He's got a lot of upside. He's just going to get better and better when he gets a little bit older and probably out to a mile."

The gelding is out of Shamardal (Giant's Causeway) mare Maxi Dress - who was bought by McKeever Bloodstock for 40,000gns at the 2013 Tattersalls July Sale - and her other two runners have both been winners. The mare was sold by Newhaven Park to Fig Tree Pastoral for $5,000 on the Inglis Online Digital Sale last month.

Further back, Ringbolt's third dam is Group 3 winner Andaleeb (Lyphard) - the dam of Group 1 winner Prophecy (Warning).

Prophecy herself produced Group 1 winner Foreteller (Dansili), Group 2 winner Modern Look (Zamindar) - the dam of Group 3 scorer Grand Jete (Dansili), while she is also the dam of of Arabesque (Zafonic), who in turn is the dam of Group 2 winner Showcasing (Oasis Dream) and Group 3-winning Camacho (Danehill) - who are now both sires.

This is also the family of Group 2 winner Fix (Iffraaj), Group 3 scorer Shutter Speed (Dansili) and Listed winner Major Jumbo (Zebedee).

In 2019 Maxi Dress produced a brother to Ringbolt, before missing to Aquis Farm's new stallion in Lean Mean Machine (Zoustar) in 2019.

Dream Ahead now stands at Haras de Grandcamp where his fee in 2020 was advertised as €12,000.
