Shamus Award (Snitzel) will stand for an increased fee of $19,800 (inc GST) at Rosemont Stud this season. The son of Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) relocated from Widden Stud to Rosemont last year, where he covered 149 mares at a fee of $11,000 (inc GST).

Shamus Award's progeny have enjoyed a lucrative season on the track, with the stallion represented by 63 individual winners, headed by four stakes winners; Group 2 winner Soul Patch, Group 3 scorer True Detective and Listed-winning pair Shamino and Flying Award whilst he was also responsible for last year's Queensland Derby (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Mr Quickie.

"If you look at the last 12 months in isolation, there hasn't been a Victorian based stallion return a better percentage to runners at the combined Group / Group 1 level and that includes the recently departed Written Tycoon," said Rosemont Principal Anthony Mithen.

"Multiple Group winners to two-year-old stakes quinella's recent results have been white hot. With over 120 mares in foal we think the future for Shamus Award is enormous and he's indicative of Rosemont stallions being priced on racetrack results as opposed to 'hype'."

Mithen is particularly encouraged by the stats that prove he is the best son of Snitzel at stud and is producing horses with precocious speed.

"80 per cent of his winners are from 1000 metres to 1400 metres. So while his headline acts have shown the strength to stretch at a mile and further, it appears his inherent genetic make-up is speed. Given the number of stakes winners he's had over the last twelve he's incredible value," he said.

Shamus Award will once again stand alongside shuttler Starspangledbanner (Choisir) who will be offered to breeders at a fee of $19,800 (inc GST), slightly down from $22,000 (inc GST) a year ago.

Starspangledbanner has enjoyed a good twelve months headlined by champion two-year-old Millisle, who won the Cheveley Park Stakes (Gr 1, 6f). He is also the sire of Inglis 2YO Millennium (RL, 1100m) winner Prime Star.

"He's enjoyed a phenomenal year and I urge breeders to have a close look at his career statistics," said Mithen. "As it stands, he's the number 1 stallion in Victoria by stakes winners / runners with over 6.3 per cent. In fact, it's a fair margin in percentage to his closest counterpart in this state.

"Importantly, he's finished the previous season with a very healthy fertility percentage of over 72 per cent. We've managed him particularly well and find that with added maturity and spacing his covers ensures his fertility is as efficient as most stallions".

The Rosemont roster is completed by Starcraft (Soviet Star) and Nostradamus (Medaglia d'Oro) and they will stand for a fee of $8,800 (inc GST) and $5,500 (inc GST) respectively. The sire of 20 stakes winners to date, Starcraft's fee remains unchanged whereas Nostradamus' is reduced for his fifth season at stud having previously stood for $8,800 (inc GST).
